So for a fact its going to be blacked out on versus for people in southern california?

Very likely. I live in Vegas, and my Versus gets blacked out because of FSW. i don't see it listed tonight so maybe I won't be blacked out tonight.

Yeah we get FSN west down here, but not prime ticket, so every time its on prime ticket, we get blacked out on versus, because for some odd reason they think prime ticket is available to us which it isnt so i end up not being able to watch the game... So annoying.

Although im pretty sure game 4 was on prime ticket, but wasnt blacked out on verus for some reason, which is why im wondering if im missing something here..

Game 4 Versus HD displayed "BLACKOUT" for me, but was showing the game, but in SD. The camera would also show what was happening when they went to commercial. So strange.

So in California there is FSwest and Prime Ticket? Odd you wouldn't get both?

Yeah prime ticket is for residents in LA and anaheim, its not available in san diego. Fsn west although is available in san diego. Problem is, when games are on prime ticket and versus they black out the versus feed for san diego residents. So it basically f***s over anyone in san diego. Fun being a hockey fan in southern california isnt it?

The issue is that when Versus shares the rights with a team's local broadcaster, they black the game out for the local team's entire market. In the case of the SoCal teams, they have 2 networks, FS West and Prime Ticket, which is also a Fox Sports network. Fox Sports West has a broadcasting territory which includes all of California south of Monterrey, and extends as far east as Las Vegas and parts of Arizona. Prime Ticket has a smaller territory, but Versus blacks out based on the outer TV market for the team, not the network, so essentially, yes if you are in San Diego, you are being screwed, not by Versus but by Prime Ticket.

So then I get FSNnorth and North and South Dakota both get that but I am pretty sure we don't see the same games. Like college hockey, when North Dakota Fighting Sioux is on. Minnesota don't see it but the game is on FSNnorth. How come that happens, shouldn't we be able to see it then?

What the heck is Prime Ticket?

It's just like FSdetroit but it's called Prime Ticket. It's not anything special then all the other FSN.

So if Versus wasn't showing this game it would be on Prime Ticket and FSNwest? So there pretty much the same thing just show different sports?

I don't get why they black these games out. It sure sucks when you have FSN but not Versus and it gets blacked out. <_<

Yeah it would either be on prime ticket or FSN west, through the whole season they only showed a couple duck games on FSN west, Im pretty sure prime ticket is the ducks main channel where most of their games are aired, rarely duck games are aired on FSN west. Where as the L.A kings are soley on FSN west and are never on prime ticket...

Its all really confusing, and its all part of being a hockey fan in san diego i guess...

yah wasn't tat f***in' strange?

I remember at one point, I forget which guy it was but he was sitting in the studio talking on his cell phone and that's what was aired...and they would show them film the interviews when it went to tv time out and then we would see them again when it came back from "commerical"

For me, here in Detroit, the game WAS supposed to be on Versus, but for some reason it's blacked out, so it's going to be on FSD. The Tigers, who were originally supposed to be on FSD tonight, were moved to FSD Plus on digital cable, which we don't get cuz we don't have digital cable.

And my dad is mad. Tell me, what's more important - a Red Wings playoff game (and potential series-clincher) or a regular-season Tigers game? :P

If you're in the Detroit market, Versus almost inevitably will black out the game, since FSD is your local carrier.

What a bunch of crap, you pay for cable and they don't even show you what you want to see! I think I will write a personal letter to Mr. Cox himself.

He has no control over what gets blacked out. I would re-address your letter to the NHL.
