Decoy Jones 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) So what's your point? Detroit spend quite a long time being a pretty crappy team. Granded we've been good for 20 years or so. Original Six teams bring a nostalgic feel to the games. The uniforms and history give a scoop that newer teams just down have. Imagine having team stats that go back more than 50 years. When comparing the Wings and Ducks, that stats were always misleading because the ducks haven't been around nearly as long. Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Chicago is still in the playoffs too. They may have missed it the last few seasons, but they are coming back for sure and have lots of great young talent now. Boston had a great regular-season record this season (better than the Wings) and came close to making the conference finals. They made the playoffs the last two seasons. New York has made the playoffs the last 4 seasons I believe. Montreal has also made the playoffs the last 2 seasons and they were the #1 seed in the East last yer. Yeah the other Original 6 teams have not been as successful as the Wings recently, but honestly who has? The Wings have been arguably the best team in the NHL for well over a decade. Chicago, Boston, New York, and Montreal have not exactly been dominating the league, but they are by no means "failing." They have done pretty well. The only Original 6 team that I consider "failing" is Toronto for obvious reasons. Boy, does being a Wings fan make other good teams look inferior though.
