Big Rig

If you get hit by Byfuglien and Eager (both of whom are much bigger than Ericsson), chances are you go down. He doesn't look injured so that is fine. First goal was kind of flukey, and the interference was a bad penalty to take. It looks like he's being a bit rushed out there, but I'm sure he'll be better next game. Going from Lidström to Lebda as a partner is obviously going to be different, and the Hawks play a much quicker game than the Ducks.

He's on a learning curve like every other new player. Chicago plays a completely different style than Anaheim. Him and his coaches will do what it takes to make sure he's more prepared for game 2.

As others have said, this is his first year in the league, he's just getting acquainted to the toughess style of hockley to play, playoff hockey. Oh yah, if you watch any player dump the puck past him, he ALWAYS interfers with them, so it's expected that he's going to get called once in a while. If you don't believe me, watch him skate backwards with a player chipping the puck past him, doesn't it everytime lol.

The interference call on his was "off the clearance rack" as Mickey would say... The kid is learning and there will be mistakes. Yes, the mistakes led to some goals, but he still makes less mistakes than many of the D around the league that have played for awhile at the NHL level.

No offense to Ericsson, but they could probably throw out a bag of potatoes next to Lids and it would still be one of the best D-pairs in the league.

Big-E has played awesome in the playoffs, but I think ideally he should have a guy like Lids, or Lilja if he was healthy, as a partner. Last 2 or 3 games he's started to shown signs of being a rookie. Might be the intensity and toughness of the Anaheim series that has taken it's toll on him.

He seems to play better when he fights. He needs to grab Burish in the next game and start wailing away.

Also, as the poster above said, he misses playing with Lidstrom. Don't know about that bag of potatoes comment, though, because Bykov played with Lidstrom and that didn't turn out so well in the 2003 playoffs.

This is the 1st game that he looked a little loose to me...but man, thats pretty good. We have talled about MOST players not having their best game so its pretty awesome that this is the 1st thread about the Big Rig.

He will be fine....I dont think Lebda is the right match for him, but he will be just fine...I agree that when he plys aggressive, the plays a better game.

This kid is going to be awesome :)

Two goals against:

first goal Big Rig turnover

second goal holding by Rig leads to the goal.

Every hit he is absorbing he is going down I was wandering is he OK??

The first goal was just as much ozzie's fault as anyones. IMO. Most of the writeups/analysis I have read attribute it to OZ as well. I mean he did fire the puck out to someone not far away from him.

First goal scared me s***less, like oh no, not now, please don't start this series Brain dead! By that I meant the whole team, that seemed like it had "Forgot to set my alarm this morning, running late, still a little sleepy" look all over it!

The call against him was BS. I did like how he sought out Eager in a scrum around the net and bear hugged him from behind before he could get to Draper. And AppleFritter giving Sharp the old stinky glove was tasty as well. So far so good, the kids look great!

What I was hoping for in the first game but it might also happen in second game A BIG CRUNCHING HIT from one of our hitters # 23, 55 or 52 I think this will cool down the other team and elevate the game of our team

Yes you are right Weght wise yes they are biger:

Byfuglien - Height 6'3 Weight 247, Age 24

Eager - Height 6'2 Weight 220, Age 25

Ericsson - Height 6'4 Weight 206

Big Rig need to work out this sumer to put some weight on.

Imagine this Big Rig next year - H: 6'5 W: 250 = BEAST

You can add Eager to that. We haven't seen him do his best deouchebag impression yet but it's coming.

More weight only hurts your performance most of the time. If he puts on that much weight, even if its all muscle, he will become mucn much slower. Remember when Datsyuk and Zetterberg were made to bulk up in the offseason a couple of years ago? Remember how much slower they got?

Ericsson is starting to look tired as it is out there. He looked tired towards the end of the Anaheim series and yesterday he showed it to everyone.

I don't agree with this thread, at all. Ericsson was fine, especially for a 4th pairing.

The first goal was a bad fluke. Ozzie had a brain fart and didn't see that player behind the net. He could/should have poked it away, but didn't see that player. Also note: the entire team started off sluggish.

The bad penalty was a good call, but weak compared to the other stuff going on. It was a make up call, nothing more.

This thread is a waste of bandwidth. This 'analysis' could have been posted in the GDT.

I think that cutting his teammate's throat was a pretty s***ty thing to do.
