JLA Parking

Ok so when the Wings make it to the final round i plan on making it to a game... Problem is i've only been to JLA twice, and both times were on busses, and the bus just dropped us off at the door, and after the game picked us up at the door.

I'm going to be driving this time and have no idea where parking is. :P

I tried looking online but can't get any good answers. I wanted to ask to make sure so i don't get lost in detroit and miss the game...

I'm coming from up north, i'll have a gps, so if anyone knows the address to the parking garage, that would be awesome!

So yea i know probably a stupid question, but any help would be appreciated :)

went to game one of this series with my bro and parked at the cobo center for $10, plenty of parking and there was a graduation going on

Just part at hard rock downtown. It's 5 bucks if you don't get validated and they shuttle over.

I'm no guru at navigating the downtown area so I like any easy in and out parking. Since you are coming from the north, like I have, if you run mapquest directions it should have you getting off of John C. Lodge Freeway at exit 1A. You'll probably see a little backup on that exit from traffic to the game depending on when you arrive, but the neat thing is the parking garage for the Joe is right there when you exit. As far as leaving both times I have gone I took a right out of the garage and followed Jefferson down to Rosa Parks and turned right. Go straight on Rosa Parks for a few miles and you'll see signs to get back on 75 North which will be a right turn. That's how I've done it anyway. Mapquest's return directions wanted me to make a u turn and go back the way I came on Jefferson to get back onto John C Lodge Fwy, but it might be a huge pain if the traffic is even allowed to flow that way.

Park at Greektown Casino and take the People Mover to JLA. Free parking and on $1 to go back and forth!

That's what I've done the last 5 Wings games I've been to. Plus, riding there and back on the People Mover with a bunch Wings fans is fun. Let's Go Red Wings! chants break out every so often. I thought that the Greektown was always free, but my friend parked there for the CCHA finals and had to pay, not sure why they did that that time though.

The 2 cross streets are Rosa Parks and fort street.

The way I get there is I-75 North, since there is construction at clark street I get off there. Make a right on clarke, a left on fort street and then a right on rosa parks. stay to the left because the garage is on the left.

JLA parking sucks unless you get there early. If you end up on the upper decks it will take FOREVER to get out.

I highly recommend one of two solutions:

Go to the Signature restaraunt on the riverfront. You'll get free parking, a good meal, and you can walk through "tubes" that take you right to the Gordie Howe entrance.

Or, park at the Greektown Casino and take the People Mugger over to the JLA.

Don't park in the JLA parking lots - they're the most expensive and take the longest to get out. If you really want to shuttle... I mean I guess why not... but my first choice is split between either the Cobo Roof or the Cobo Basement - both are $10 as far as I know and the roof puts you just as close as the JLA parking lots; just go down the stairs and you're nearly at the foot of the Joe! It's never taken me more than 5 or 10 minutes to completely vacate the vicinity of the roof, but if you park in the Cobo basement, I've been stuck in there for 20 or 30 minutes before I could get moving... though last time I was there, Game 7 of Anaheim series, everyone in there was jubilantly honking their horns for about a half an hour. Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm from Pittsburgh and I will likely be attending game 7 at the Joe. Where would be the best place to park? I'd prefer to park close to the Joe since I don't want to walk to far since I'll be with my kids and I don't want to get into any confrontations. Also, I'll be sitting 225B about midway up, are these seats decent? I'm looking forward to going to Detroit and I've heard great things about how nice Wings fans are, unlike the Pens fans here. I can't wait to see the Pens or the Wings win the Cup and I'll enjoy the game no matter which team wins just like I did last year at the Igloo.

Thanks Wings fans and Good Luck!

Park at the Cobo roof. Take 75 N to Fort St. (thinks it's exit 43 but when you see the big gas storage tank painted with a Piston basketball on it on your left make sure you are in the right lane) Hang a right and get in the left lane and due a U back onto Fort St. Follow Fort St. to 3rd and hang a right and follow it to the Cobo roof parking entrance that will be on your right (beware that when you hang a right on 3rd that some guys will try to divert you off to another parking lot..but keep going straight and the street will swerve off to the left). Cobo roof parking will on the right then. Park. Go to your right heading towards the river then take the elevator down with all of the other fans and you will find the Joe.

Hopefully these directions will just be a waste of time on my part :)

Not too long, like 5 minutes tops I think (I know for a fact the longest stretch from Millender to the Joe is 1:38, and there's a few stops from Greektown to Millender...so yeah)
