Go look at the regular season schedule and the results of back to b
rently lazy and stupid. Conspiracies require intelligence and hard work/planning. That's why we rarely see successful conspiracies in real life.

They moved it up because NBC thinks the finals will have s***ty rattings and wanted to put them on the weekend so they dont hurt the ratings during the week its as simple as that.

Bettman just luvs the Penguins so he wanted them to win so he can kiss Crosby with the cup and maybe grab a handful of ass. It's a conspiracy against the Wings! Bettman knew all along the Wings would make it to the Cup Finals that's why he decided in April to make there be a back to back. He's the next Nostradamus. ohmy.gif

Ask Gonchar the same question.

The league got decent ratings last year in the Finals. I don't see why it'd be bad this season all of a sudden.

Maybe he wants a Malkin/Crosby double-team. Some people are into that, you know.

I doubt they'd be playing on the same night.

If the NHL really wants to get the Finals over with in order to not compete with the NBA, they should just play the entire series in 7 days.

This league is stupid, and can't pick the medium between extremes. If they didn't want to wait 9 days, they could have at least waited just around 4 or 5 days like I suggested in my above post.

The back to back games is something neither you nor the NHL can justify as being fair.

Thank you.

Bettman wants money. Even if the NBA Finals and SCF aren't going to be happening on the same day, if they're going on at the same time, you're competing for advertising money. If Bettman moves the Finals up, he has nothing sports-wise, stopping him from. The league needs money. Bettman wants money. He's doing this purely for dollars, and while it shows no regard for the players' health, it's what we've come to expect from him anyway.

Everyone quit whining about it and move on. The Wings have to, the Pens have to.....so should we.

I love the Wings fans that are already making excuses about how they are getting screwed by the league. Its the conspiracy theorists all over again. If it makes you sleep better at night, go ahead and do it. The Wings are going to win this series in 6 games. The team that wants this series the most is the one that is going to win. I trust in the Wings drive and determination.

2008 NBA Finals Game 1: June 5th
2008 NHL Stanley Cup Finals Game 1: May 24th

2009 Stanley Cup Finals -- teams already decided
2009 NBA Finals -- no series yet decided, one of which will go 2 more games at very least

Looks like the NHL didn't compete with the NBA last year either. f***. That logic thing again.

No, you don't understand. Bettman hates the Wings and is in a *** love affair with Crosby and Malkin and therefore must bend to their whims. It's all about the Penguins, don't you see?

Actually, the more folks have to defend the way the NHL operates, and attack the conspiracy theorists, the more idiotic they look. Every single day theres new fodder for conspiracy theorists. That far outpaces anything that indicates the NHL isn't biased towards the Pens, or isn't biased towards anyone in particular.

You guys are too much. I'll agree the schedule is s***ty, but its better than waiting nine games between games. No suspense there for casual fans as they would've forgotten all about hockey by then. But to think this has anything to do with a master plan to give the Pens an advantage is absolute nonsense.

Its obvious that we both have a different opinion here. I just don't think its that big of a disadvantage. The only argument I can hear about how it is a disadvantage is....well.....the league is screwing us. There just is no valid argument for it or against it.

Both teams are banged up.
Both teams have little to no rest coming into the game on Saturday. It isn't like the Pens have been sitting on their ass for a week.
The Pens have to travel to our rink to play on reduced rest.

It just seems to me that the people complaining about this are setting the Wings up for losing the cup and using the scheduling as a convenient excuse. Make no mistake Wings fans.....if the Wings lose in the Cup finals it will not be the scheduling or the refs fault. The Wings will be to blame.

I already told you it isn't a "conspiracy theory". It's marketing taking precedence over the good of the game.

Do you honestly think it's af****** roll of the dice that there haven't been back to backs in the playoffs before now? Perhaps it's because it's a disadvantageous position. That's why they avoid it in scheduling.

You could say the same about the conspiracy theorists who said that the Twin Towers were detonated by the government. Seems that new theories come out about that every month or so. The latest being detecting explosive compound in the wreckage of the building.

No s*** the man can't make proper decisions, we've known that for years. The point is, THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY. The League is not in cahoots to f*** this team over and give Jesus Christ Crosby and the Holy Malkin Spirit a Stanley Cup parade. Okay? They're not. And the more people beat this drum, the more asinine they sound.

Gary Bettman is not smart enough to conspire to wipe his own ass, much less put a fix in for the Finals.

The idea of moving the Finals up for television has been in the works for about a month and a half, before the idea of a Cup rematch was even a twinkle in someone's eye. This is purely being done for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and ratings. That's it.

Yes this, unless for some reason Sunday's game gets moved from prime time. I'll break out my tin foil and make a hat at that point.

So then, explain how the Cup Finals started earlier than last year, which is consistent with the league's intent to start the Finals before the NBA's starts? Explain how Bettman f***ed the Wings in (yet again) starting it earlier, and how that announcing in April there would be back to back games was a screw job to the Wings? If the Wings were healthy you wouldn't even be bitching, and I bet you ANYTHING you'd favor this schedule if it were the Penguins hurting and not our team. Go look at the Penguins board and you see the same conspiracy BS -- but Bettman is FOR Detroit. Wow, I guess there's a lot to this conspiracy s*** isn't there.

Edit: There's also logical Penguins fans asserting there's no conspiracy favoring the Wings. Isn't that familiar. ohmy.gif
