Are you Superstitious

So just seeing who else is superstitious out there.

I've seriously been wearing the same t-shirt during every playoff game since 1998. I do wash it in between.

Here are some pics...as you can see it is showing 11 yrs of use. And I'll be wearing it tomorrow night.

Oh absolutely. On gamedays I have to have one meal prior to the game that consists of red and whtie foods. I also have a thing where once I put my Wings gear on for the day, it cannot come off unles i have something else Red Wings on. So say I'm wearing a jersey and i get a stain on it before the game and I want to change into a tshirt instead. My options are to either put on my Red Wings scrunchie and then change, or to put my tshirt on under the jersey. I also have a playlist that I listen to before the games. If I want the score/momentum to change, I make everyone in the room with me switch seats. If I am alone, I go sit somewhere else. Also, once it turns into midnight on game day, I am no longer allowed to look at other teams' boards because it brings bad karma. I only look here until the game is over.

Also, when I have tickets to the game, I never ever put it on my facebook status, away message, or post it here. No one is allowed to know via the internet that I am going to the game. I learned that the hard way for last year's game 5 in the finals when I called up everyone I knew to tell them I was going.

Yeah, I am. I have to play a certain band's music during games, I don't talk about games where "the other team scores no goals" while they are in progress, I don't jump ahead to series before the one we're playing is finished.....I have to post in the "X number of posts for a Red Wings victory thread"....stuff like that.

I have some jersey-wearing superstitions. It used to be that I wore the opposite colours that the wings were playing in, but these playoffs my white Lidstrom jersey has only tallied a single loss (Wings-Ducks 6) when I've worn it during games. I actually tried going back to the reverse-colours thing by wearing my red Zatta kit in last round's game 3 and promptly switched back for 4 and 5.

I had a friend that swore that every time he sat on the crapper, the Wings scored. So whenever they REALLY needed a goal, he went and took a seat. :)

I don't go that far. I do think some things are taboo. Like saying the word shut-out before the final buzzer, underestimating your opponent... things like that. ;)

No, not at all but I know the value of superstitous activity allows fans to believe they can make a difference in the outcome of the game. It provides some fun.

I tell people all the time that I no longer get down over sports because I have seen all my teams win (except the Lions) and lose. If I live long enough they will lose and if I live even longer then I will see them win again (possibly even the Lions). If superstitous activity did actually affect the outcome of the game then the Wings would never lose.

Datsyuk Jersey washed after each series, check, wear Wings watch, check, put on worn out PJ bottoms(unless I'm out in public...then it's worn out PJ bottoms with underwear...just kidding, I wear pants in public), check, Wings flag on vehicle, check, Share chips with dogs, check, tell wife I love her on commercial breaks, check, install Penguin toilet paper in bathroom, post Do Not Dosturb sign on front door - included with note saying "if you do..." show picture of roadkill, and hoist Red Wing flag on flagpole, check, check and check.

For me, there are 2 kinds of superstitions.

Type 1 is like the playoff bracelets. It gives me something out of the ordinary to let people know that I'm a Wings fan and get a hockey conversation going.

Type 2 is the type that gives me some sort of release. By doing something, or not doing something, it keeps me mentally occupied. I can control my actions even if I can't control what is going on during the game.

I also respect the superstitions of others, especially the players themselves. If I know that real live NHL goalies don't want you to say ut-shay out-ay before the game is over, then I won't say it. This is within reason, of course. If an ugly Wings fan knocks on my door and says he has a pregame superstition that he has to kiss a female Wings fan, I will politely decline.

I'm not superstitious at all, well at least not anymore. I was a little more superstitious back during our 1997 and 1998 Cup runs, but now I know nothing I do can effect the outcome of the game. Also, thinking about superstitions, I would not want what I do to effect the Wings. If I forget, and we lose, I wouldn't want Detroit fans mad at me, we can be brutal!

Maybe that's my superstition is not doing anything.

yes, i wear my winter classic t-shirt under my datsyuk jersey with my wings hat for every game of the playoffs. Unfortunately (and im not sure how or when i started this particular superstition) i cannot wash any of these articles of clothing until the playoffs are over. The jersey is getting pretty disgusting, but hey, why risk washing it?

I wear my Wings jersey in public the day after they win a playoff series. I did it last year and it's worked and it's working so far this year. Also, this year I wore it on game day for the first game of the playoffs, which I didn't do last year. If they lose, then I can blame it on that change. :P
