Ladsud2002 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Malkin is absolutely just killing us. Whenever he is on the ice the puck is glued to his stick if hes not shooting or setting up a line mate. Is it time to rethink who we need to be focusing on?
Snazzy 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Babcock will get the matchups he wants at the Joe. I say no. However, Melkin has been more dangerous on the PP. We need to cover him better on the PP
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Z on Crosby. Dats on Malkin ... I think he should be able to play in game 5, he almost played today.
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Did you see the fourth goal? That will be every period if Z lays off Crosby.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 z looks ragged out there. he's looking like he's out of gas. i think babs rode him too hard game three when he was already worn out. tonight he was a bit of a liability on more than one occasion, and it's not often you'd say that about z. wings need some rest. titanium2 867 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Maybe they should re-unite the EuroTwins. Throw Pav-Z-Cleary at the Crosby line. That might allow Franzen and Filppula to harass Malkin like last year. As far as who completes that line, well... I'm not sure. Hossa sure has sucked lately.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 we'd need pav back first, which i'm not convinced is going to happed. Didn't someone report that Pav would for sure be back for Game 5? They said very good chance for game 4 but for sure game 5.

They said very good chance for game 4 but for sure game 5. really? i didn't hear that. either way, i'm not believing anything anybody says until i see him in the lineup saturday. we've been jerked around ever since pav went down. every day is some new bs. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 Given that Sidney is now out of the bottle, there's no reason not to switch Z to the more potent scorer- Malkin. That being said, I'm sure Z has a better idea of who he's better at shadowing. He seems to have some good anti-chemistry with Crosby so who knows that Babs will do. The thing is that the best eidence that he's returning is coming from observation, not just listening to the company line. Before they said he was a game-time decision and people would report he couldn't skate properly and he was limping. Now they say he's ready or at least 95% ready to return and people are reporting that he's skating well, participating in full contact drills, walking normally, laughing and joking with reporters and even staying after practice to push his legs harder in anticipation of playing in a game. TheOwl 77 Report post Posted June 5, 2009 (edited) For some reason I think Malkin might eat a not 100% Datysuk alive, just because he's so big. Put Z on Malkin, Dats on Crosby. Even though the Wings scored more goals then anyone in the regular season, no match up's at all would be brutal. I also find it very pathetic that the Penguins NEED Malkin and Crosby to succeed. We lost Datysuk, we did fine. We lost Lidstrom we did fine. We lost Franzen last season, did just fine. It's pathetic that a TEAM needs to rely on two people so much. If they're worried about size, then they should really send Franzen after Geno. Z and Sid know each other pretty well now. At this point, it's about determination. Sid is their determination guy, Z is for the Wings. I'd rather not change that. It's pathetic? Well, what's even more pathetic is that a supposed team of "unmatched depth" is getting outplayed by "two people."

The Pens lost Crosby last year for awhile....They did alright. You guys have much more depth than the pens, but really...it has been other people scoring...not these two.
