Hockey9019 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 Since everybody is getting screwed and not going to the Joe, I'll probably be going to Hockeytown Cafe to join in on the party. Never been there before. Is it big? How early should we get there? 6? Where to park? I'm sure you gotta order a little something. Wheres the best place to sit? Either way, I'll be going just for the experience! LAW 7 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 Was at Hockeytown in 02...wasn't too crowded as they use the old second city area to show the game also in theater seats. I believe I got down there about 5 and didn't even have a line to get in...later in the evening there was a line-up outside. Hockeytown has three (I believe) levels [including the roof]. Never really had a bad seat there to watch a game.

LAW 7 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 just ended up at Chelli's last year after the parade.... Boy that must of have been terrible when they brought the cup in and to think you could have been a Hockeytown (although wasn't Hockeytown closed for a private Wings party?)...just one caveat on Hockeytown - I believe in '02 there was Joe Vision - not sure how the lack of Joe Vision will effect the turnout. Debating staying in Detroit or heading up to Royal Oak tomorrow for the game myself.

I went there for the last game. We got there two and a half hours early and there was already a two hour wait for a table. If you're going to go down there, you should probably go as soon as you can. themule0932 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 Isn't there a viewing party outside of Hockeytown as well?
alowicious 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 Isn't there a viewing party outside of Hockeytown as well? Yes, They have an outside area where they will be projecting the game on a huge screen. I think they said that you can bring lawn chairs because seating will be limited.
liloz 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 In 02 they showed the game @ the Fox Theater too. That's were I watched it. It was way fun. Gotta get there by 5 though.

themule0932 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 get there earlier than 6 Are you saying get there earlier than 6 for sitting outside or if you're going to be inside?
themule0932 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 And one question, where do you park for the outside viewing?
alowicious 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 how is that allowed but the igloo viewing isn't? just wondering From what I understand this is considered a private business, since it is a bar and not the Arena. As far as parking is concerned, you can park in the Fox parking structure that it is practically connected to.
LAW 7 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 Just got the email that Hockeytown is the official viewing party of the Wings...so it might be that much busier w/o Joe Vision.
Ladsud2002 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2009 I plan on getting down there about 3 and get a good table and enjoy the day.Hopefully I can still walk to the bathroom by the puck drop.

Hockey9019 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 You don't gotta be 21 to go to the outside viewing party do you? No We'll be there tomorrow for sure
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 Are you saying get there earlier than 6 for sitting outside or if you're going to be inside? I imagine that the "seats" will be limitless outside, but definitely if you want to get inside, prepare for a long wait. Especially with it now being the new Joevision. I'm not familiar with how much busier it will be tomorrow, because we've always had the Joe to watch games at. As far as parking, if you get there early enough, you can park on that side street just off Woodward. Under a more realistic circumstance, I wonder if they will have the shuttles running? If so, you could park at a casino, or at the Joe, and just shuttle to Hockeytown Cafe. Its free if they have the service going tomorrow.

RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 I know that for Game 2, it actually wasn't very crowded at all. I know this is totally different with it being a potential clinching game on the road, but don't be discouraged if you can't get there super early. I'd still give it a shot. I'm going and planning on getting there around 5:30 or 6:00.
