SCF GAME 7 GDT: Penguins 2 at Red Wings 1

I'm shockingly calm despite the lose.

Maybe its because we won it last year and I'm not yet starved again to see my team win a title. Maybe its because the Wings put forth a valiant effort that I was honestly inspired by despite coming up short. Maybe its the bittersweet satisfaction in knowing the Pens scored an illegal goal to open the game up and will likely be labeled by most non-Pittsburgh fans who hate Crosby's over-exposed ass as a league victory. Maybe its the fact that I know the Wings have all their best players tied down and will be back next year, hopefully healthier and hungrier. Or maybe its just the fact that is hasn't hit me yet.

Brad Stuart should be Crosby's Cup Caddie as punishment.

Honestly, Stuart has to know doesn't he. He HAS to know he single handedly cost us any chance of winning the Cup. Doesn't he?

Apparently the Wings lost 3-1. Look at the 2nd period scoring according to ESPN:

http://espn.go.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=290612005

Matt Cooke unassisted goal?

Zetterberg also scored at the end of the 2nd on an unassisted goal apparently as the box score read at one point.

Lesson 1 of the 2009 NHL Stanley Cup> Fact: The better team doesn't always win.

Lesson 2 of the 2009 NHL Stanley Cup> Fact: The better team being the Redwings, was clearly demonstrated in Game 5 blowout and the score differentials in the games. Pens limped across with 2-1 wins, Detroit dominated with 3-1, 5-0 type wins.

Lesson 3 of the 2009 NHL Stanley Cup> Fact: The classless Pens (as demonstrated by their trying to hurt Detroit players when getting spanked in game 5) barely won the cup against truly impossible odds... but Detroit is still Hockeytown and Pittsburgh is still The Pitt.

Bonus Lesson: Life is pain, then you die. :ranting:

This is way worse than 1995, because we had this s*** in the bag.

I don't think so. Every game except #5 was close. I'm sure you're thinking they were one win away and should've ran with it but the series overall was that close.

Anyone calling a fan here that's pissed off and upset can eat a dick. We are all very passionate about our team.

The Pens deserve to win this cup. They beat us 4 out of 5 games when nobody said they could (including me). Props to them.

Also I think the crowd at JLA is actually being pretty classy, by chearing players that are skating around with the cup.

Any Pens fans on this board, congratulations. Your team deserves it.

In regard to the wings, absolutely no excuse. Pathetic effort. The only reason the wings controlled the 3rd period like they did was because the Pens had a 2-goal lead and it was virtually a 20 minute penalty kill. Absolutely pathetic play by Stuart tonight. He cost us this game singlehandedly.

See this post is what makes some of our points about "fairweather fans"....

YES the Pens deserved to win because they won 4 games......but the fans that have been saying the Wings don't deserve to win because they lost games 3&4 and then those same fans say they deserve to win because they won game 5 with a shut out...but then when it came to game 6 all the sudden the SAME fans were again saying that the Wings deserve to lose......if the Wings would have won tonight.....those FANS would say they knew it all along, they had faith in their team...blah blah blah....but the Wings lost....so those fans that thought the Wings deserved it in games 1-2-5.....are the SAME FANS that are now saying the Wings DIDN"T deserve it because they lost!....MAKE UP YOUR F'N MIND! Either you are with them or not! This is the first game I have been totally pissed off with anyone except for the time I mentioned a shutout before the game was over (and we won anyway!).........

You say pathetic effort....so, what you're saying, outshooting in all but the 1st...having better faceoffs in the 1st (and the refs) had NOTHING to do with the Wings effort?!? You have got to be kidding.....lets see....who would YOU like to not see next year....because according to a lot of fans on here, if we put them all together, the whole team would be gone, exception of Lids and Z.....so in relpy to your post......NOT ALL FANS THAT COMPLAIN ARE TRUE FANS.....

The fans that are congratulating the Wings for the season are the true fans. They made it to the SCF....again......yes, they lost....but ya know....they can't win all the time......They put forth effort, hell, did you see the Pens w/ a shutout in 7 games....I DON"T THINK SO!

That said....next year is another chance WINGS!

It only seems appropiate...

Thanks again for taking that piece of garbage. Too bad your fans cant be as classy as pittsburgh fans. There was no booing last year. But its ok cuz look at the scoreboard.

Please!! fans are fans!!

I seem to remember them booing, but if I am wrong, then I stand corrected!!

The Redwings had a lot more to lose as they led the series both 2-0 and 3-2 and yet still lost, becoming only the 3rd? team in league history to lose game 7 of the SCF at home.

There is no excuses as the Wings played like a bunch of ******* most of the last two games allowing the Pens to come back. People are tired of the half assed efforts this team has displayed all year long.

hey, head over to www.nhl.com and check out the 'to the max' headline. Talbot and someone else is celebrating, and Hossa is skating away with a sad look on his face. How ironic Hossa. If you would have showed up it could have been you.

This is way worse than 1995, because we had this s*** in the bag.

I guess I felt this year would be worse, because as you said, we had it in the bag. But, I just felt it in my gut that we were going to lose, and I really was more worried about Crosby raising the cup. In 1995, I was waaaaay too hopeful, because we owned that season. This one is horrible too, for quite a few reasons. Thank God no one at my workplace is a Pens fan. The worse we have is a Hawks fan.

If you aren't the least bit pissed that this team blew a 2-0 lead in the series, a 2-1 lead in game 4 AND didn't bother to show up in games 6 or 7 until it was a 2 goal deficit you just need to stop already.

You're not helping anything. in fact you are just making it worse.

It sucks to lose in the Finals and be this close, but honestly I feel the same when we lose in any round. A loss is a loss and it sucks whenever it happens. The Pens played great, Fleury was huge and we now have all the motivation in the world to refocus and reload for next year.

We've been in the final four for the last three years and in the Finals the last two years. This team is something special and we're not going away. Next spring we'll be back at it all over again and have a good chance at winning it all. I just feel bad for Hossa. Yeah, he chose the wrong team blah blah blah, but the guy passed up big money for a chance to win a Cup and it didn't happen. Maybe he has some kind of curse on him. Ottawa never even made it to the Finals until he left.

Anyways, great season, very disappointing ending, but we'll be doing this next spring and the next one after that and the next one after and...

If we thought the Cindy love was bad before...wait. The NHL's golden child now has a Cup. They're going to shove this s*** down our throats every chance they get.

Maybe getting stationed in Italy for 2 years is JUST what the doctor ordered...

Did you just murder anyone by any chance?

You must be in a dissociative state if you're calm after that s***.

I am interested to see what they do during the offseason.

I really do think Hossa will be back next year. We will lose great players but I think he stays.

They better not bring him back next year, we could use that money next year on other really good players that would produce when it matters, like game 7 of the finals maybe.
