Who does Hossa mesh well with on the team?

Hossa is not a Red Wing type of player. He can't play well with either of our superstars, and his production showed it.

I don't want to see him in a Wings jersey, because he did not provide enough effort when it mattered.

Franzen more of threat then Hossa? I think your rose colored glasses need to come off. I understand we want a scape goat, but Johan was no more or less a threat the Hossa.

Which was why there was a Penguin on him immediately when he had the puck whereas when Hossa had the puck the Penguins let him stop himself.

at least the Red Wings aren't handed hardware on a silver platter.

Facepalm?

Really? So, even you have stooped to lying now? I've never bashed Ozzie. All my statements before the start of the playoffs were about the three facets of the game.......offense, defense & goaltending.......and that IF, and a strong emphasis on the word IF, the wings had a weak link, it was goaltending. At the time the statistics clearly indicated this to be true. Now, I'll be the first to admit that this couldn't have turned out to be further from the truth (Ozzie was clearly the most consistently sold part of the team in the playoffs), but in no way was this "Ozzie bashing". Like I said, and you failed to acknowledge as even being partially true, when the playoffs started, Ozzie, and the goaltending in general, would be the segment of a clearly superior team that potentially could cause the playoff run the most issues. I think at the time a strong majority of wings fans, and many on this forum, would agree. I'll stand by those statements as being completely valid AT THE TIME.

Look at you backtrack. Here's just a few of your asinine posts that got you thrown on ignore..

If we take off our red colored glasses, it's hard to dispute that if the Wings do have a weakest link, it has to be goaltending. How many of the 15 other remaining teams would trade forwards with them? How about top 3 defense pairings? Now, how about starting goaltenders? Anybody who would not give the lowest number to the third question hasn't been watching the same team I have. Sure Ozzie has been named 1st star two games in a row and he has played light years better the 1st two playoff games than he did during the regular season. But the fact remains that the general premise of the article is correct....Ozzie IS the weakest link.
Maybe you didn't get the memo either.....2 wins vs Columbus at home does not yet make a successful playoff run.

I'll maintain a sense of objectivity and stand by a prediction (and I certainly hope it doesn't happen) that if the wheels fall off, the blame will fall squarely between the pipes.

You were flat out ******* wrong, AND you were an ******* to people supporting Osgood on top of being wrong. Kinda hard to be a condescending prick to people who know more about the goalie in the net and his tendencies than you do, and come out trying to look like you weren't crapping all over him. You were better off just eating crow and leaving it at that.

Haha that's so funny he came here to win the cup and was 2 whole goals away from succeeding!! What a dumbass!!! He should have stayed with the worst coach in the league a.k.a Therrien and the team headed for disaster until they turned things around 2 months before the end of the season!!! What a tool, can't believe he's not psychic and knew the same two teams would be in the SCF for the 2nd straight year and that he would lose in a Game 7!!!

SUCK IT HOSSA

doubt it.

I think Bettman was involved in 9/11.

As far as being an ******* and a condescending prick, you'd certainly be more of an expert on that that I ever will be. I just said I was wrong about Ozzie. His "swith on" play in the playoffs was as great a turnaround from what he was putting out there as the end of the regular season as any I've seen. As for your vast knowledge of Ozzie's tendencies, I don't think it requires any great intellect to be a blanket defender of a player you obviously think can do no wrong. Just as I said then and will say now........any polling of people not associated with the Redwings (and a great deal of Wings fans), would have supported the position I took over years. And by the way.......I've been a Redwings fan probably about as long as you've been alive (not since they "got good" in the 90's), so don't break your arm patting yourself on the back about being right about Ozzie playing well in the playoffs. If you throw enough s*** against a wall, some of it is bound to stick. No, go ahead and put me back on "Ignore". I'll try to suffer through the agony.

Kind of ironic, don'tcha think? Two goals.....just two goals.....

Doesn't seem too insurmountable a task for a 40 goal scorer making $7M+ per year. Especially one who claims to have COME HERE ONLY for a chance to Win the Cup.

Two goals.

Just two goals.....

Hell....

Kris Freakin' Draper had ONE. The rookie Defenseman had ONE.

How many did Drapes pot this Season? Big Rig?

Two goals.

Just two goals....

I am not bothering to read this whole thread but am I the only one who feels really bad for Hossa? I like the guy a lot and the wings losing had nothing to do with him being here. There is no "jinx" or anything. That is just stupid. Yea he didnt play well at all and didnt contribute much in the playoffs but he is still a world class player and I would keep him on the team if we could. It was one game, if the wings won, we would all want to keep him...

Stay strong Hossa, next year I promise.

I'm not depressed, I'm being pragmatic. Lidstrom looks his age, an aging roster will only be one year older, and the young guys aren't there yet. Osgood is a major issue, too.

I honestly think this team will not have what it takes to vie for the Cup next year. I would've said the same exact things had the Wings won.

I see you are very bright, lidstrom is getting older yes, but he is up for ANOTHER norris, Ozzie has kept up in these playoffs. The wings will compete for the cup again next year, but with more hunger behind them.

I can definitely respect the irony of this situation, but get over it. Hossa was no more absent than anyone else on the Red Wings squad was during any given stretch throughout the postseason. Would he really be under this much scrutiny if they had have lost to Columbus, Anaheim or Chicago or anyone else in the East?

It's a good thing Kenny Holland is calling the shots for this organization and not a bunch of knee-jerk pissed off fans. I trust him to do what's right, if he stays, hell yeah, if not, thank you for your services Mr. Hossa.

Oh, and this guy was a big factor in why Pittsburgh got where they did last year which can be attributed to their success this year.

Stay classy, Pittsburgh.

With all due respect it was far from a guess, wishful thinking, or even, (as you so eloquently put it), "throw(ing) enough s*** against a wall" for those of us who KNEW, (yes....that's right....KNEW), that Osgood would step it up in the Post Season. He always does. He always has.

It was fans who gave up on him, calling him a piece of s***, and a "worthless human being", who were throwing s*** against the wall, assuming that he wouldn't step it up.....AGAIN. Just as he PROMISED he would. Just as Holland SAID he would. Just as Babcock KNEW he would. Just as his Teammates BELIEVED he would.

And yes.....

You, and many others, were nasty, snide, condescending, and rude to anyone who didn't agree that it WOULD, 100%, be Osgood who would not only cost the Wings the Cup, but who would be SO BAD, that the Wings would be lucky not to be bounced out in the First Round.

It wasn't about being "wrong". It was just plain not knowing what the Hell you were talking about, based on lack of knowledge of your OWN goaltender and his tendencies. Just as those of us who KNEW his tendencies claimed.

That's okay, though.....

Oz? He forgives ya. That's just the type of guy he is.....

Sadly, Wings were too injured and depleted from the start of the series. Penguins should share the cup with the Ducks (and Chi-town), because that's the only reason why they won the best of 7. If Wings were healthy and coasted through the playoffs (unfortunately western is more competitive and harder division) like the Penguins did, Hossa would be drinking from the cup after 5 games of the series.

Fortunate for Penguins, unfortunate for the Wings.

Without a doubt Hossa made the best decision coming here, but no body can control injuries.
