djt813 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Exactly, the officiating is getting downright disgraceful. To say it is inconsistent is a gross understatement. After all the league's talk about how a penalty is penalty whether it be in the regular season or the playoffs is completely tossed out the window, and add to that the 2 ref system has almost as many flaws as the old one ref way- case in point, in game 6 Z is robbed by Fleury in close, then Staal pushes him into Fleury- the ref close by makes the correct no-call b/c it's obvious Staal pushed Z into Fleury, let's play on, right? No, b/c the d-bag at center ice decides from his piss-poor vantage point that Hank must've run Fleury and puts him in the box. And that's just one of many, many moronic calls typical throughout the entire season both regular and playoffs. True dat, one of many many. Some in our favor, vastly more against... djt813 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Suppose you're right. Let's just say the Red Wings got screwed over worse than any team in the history of professional sports playing for a title. What are you going to do about it? Complain about it? Are you going to walk around still claiming the Wings are champions? Screaming about it changes nothing. You are right, it doesn't change who everyone in history will recognize as the cup winners in 09. But this is a RED WINGS FAN BOARD where we should be able to vent the injustice of the process without our own fans slamming us. All I want is an impartial league to let the players decide it and hold those players to the rules the league itself has established!
djt813 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) Oh ya i guess you can add the questionable "hook" on dupuis in game 2 that lead to the winner to the list on Wings breaks as well. Who you routing for??? For one, questionable is quite a fair argument - as it seemed to me, biased as I am, that he lifted the stick which is not hooking at all. And we got another goal and won by 2. All of my examples were goals that were directly part of winning or losing, not when there was some padding in the score... fair enough? redwings1914 18 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Crosby doesn't deserve s***.....plain and simple, his teammates carried him all the way ala Hossa if we would have won (aka, overcome all the bullcrap from the league clearly not wanting us to win)
puertoricanWingsfan 5 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 as everyone has said... the officiating sucked ass. But the Wings are a good enough team to overcome that. and we simply did not play like that team.

redwings1914 18 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Are you going to walk around still claiming the Wings are champions? This team is still the best in the league, you play an exhibition game against ANY team in this league, hell even any team in Europe and this team will win. You know the reffing was horrible on both sides....imagine if they called it by the book. This series would have been over in 5, max.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 there were missed calls and bulls*** calls both ways. we had more pp's throughout the series than the pens, we just didn't do anything with them. we had plenty of pp time tonight to get a goal, but we didn't get it done. other than the anomaly that was game five, the wings had 1 ******* power play goal in six games. not too many teams are going to win a series with stats like that. the penguins got it done. they deserved to win. it's the ******* stanley cup. it's an 82 game grind and then four grueling rounds of balls-to-the-wall playoff hockey. the penguins got through it all and trumped the reigning champs in the last game of the season. they deserve it. i'm no fan of pitsburg, but they were the better team this series. they got the job done. they are the rightful champs. end of story. Maybe you are more graceful than I, but I can't give them that much credit. Yes we got away with some calls. Just because we got more PP doesn't mean they didn't deserve more calls than they got. Yes, we didn't get the job done on the PP, or overall for that matter. But still no reason to substitute "Pitt accomplishment" for still impressive if slightly less respectable "capitalizing on opportunities given them". Better than us, I guess the score & Cup shows that to be true, but can't say as having watched the whole series that is the story of the games. We didn't do our jobs, I admit that and can't say we earned the win, but also can't say as we entirely blew it when there are so many calls. We just didn't overcome all the bad luck and create our own "luck" like we are capable of and should have done. Good season Wings, recharge and don't leave so much up to luck this year. Anyone notice that Bettman was beaming handing the Cup to Crosby this year, yet a bit uncomfortable and hesitant handing it to Lidstrom last year?
Pavel Hossyukstrom 2 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) Maybe if we score more than 1 goal a frickin game we would have won... Refs aren't the reason we lost. More like refs aren't the only reason we lost. Dude get over it refs were factors in these games. Just in a different way everybody is used to. Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Do us a favor and cover your head in tin foil now to stop the CIA from reading your brainwaves and get it over with. These half-cocked conspiracy theories just make us look like poor losers. We lost because we did not play the hockey that got us to the Stanley Cup Finals. The refs did not throw the series to the Pens, the league had nothing to do with it. Just stop it already.

motorcitykid 42 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Refs were brutal all playoffs. But as they began I said over and over that I'd like to meet anybody from the Eastern Conference EXCEPT the Penguins. I don't even need to justify my remark but when fans of the ******* Avs and Ducks, and Canadian media and fans express shock at the calls the refs let the Pens get away with ... I know something is suspicious. Last night they allowed more of the same slashing, hooking and cheapshots as they did all series. Unfortunately it was THE Cup clinching game. The NHL got their wish. Their so-called posterboy got his ring. Too bad it's tainted.
MidMichSteve 1,115 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 as everyone has said... the officiating sucked ass. But the Wings are a good enough team to overcome that. and we simply did not play like that team. It's been that way since, and when, we won back-to-back. Wings against the world. The refs have had a little underdogitis when making calls. They're only human. It used to be because we bought our cups. Now it's because of our recent successes. Stiffy 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 This is the most whiny ***** post I have ever seen. I just want to go on the record as not being a ***** and buying into this crap. Except for game 5 the Penns had us on the ropes every game. They earned it. Deal with that. Take losing like a man, or go back to your butt buddy whiners and take it somewhere else. Flamezfan 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 I havce to laugh whenever I see a thread like this, especially from Wings fans. Your team is the greatest interference team in the league and doesn't get called. Simple fact is the Wings D failed to play the puck, it was the biggest weakness all season long. Look at some facts. almost 60 more goals from last year during the regular season, one of the worst PKs, that means something is wrong defensively, and during game 7 it showed. It wasn't the ref, but a team that is more used to winning games offensively than defensively. The Pens were a better defensive team and when the Wings offensive died so did their winning. Stiffy 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 You want to blame something for the Wings loss, try this: If any Penns fan were to see this thread, they would probably feel great about and laugh their asses off. I would if it were the other way. A bunch of spoiled whiney Wings fans who are even bigger sore losers than Crosby was last year.

A bunch of spoiled whiney Wings fans who are even bigger sore losers than Crosby was last year. Oh, but there's a huge difference. When the Pens fans and/or Crosby whine about something, they're doing it because they're a bunch of whiners and that's what they do. Babies. When Wings fans do it, it's because we're pointing out the obvious that the Wings are clearly getting screwed. I hope this clears everything up.
Kicksave 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 I welcome any Pittsburgh apologist to come up with anywhere near the number of shafts we got, especially those leading to goals... How about earlier in the series when Hossa slashed and broke the stick of a Penguins player, only to seconds later set up a goal that put the game away in Detroit? trogdor 5 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 if there was no bias in this series, then why the NBC "star" cam only on crosby? why all the cosby and pen commercials? from both nbc and the league.
Zack is Great 14 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 How about earlier in the series when Hossa slashed and broke the stick of a Penguins player, only to seconds later set up a goal that put the game away in Detroit? T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Refs schmefs. We came out flat. We were worn out and beat up, made mental msitakes (turnovers) and physical mistakes (Rafalski looking like he was escorting Stahl in on the shorthanded goal that turned the series around). Pittsburgh won. Detroit lost. Maybe this will put some jump back in there step.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Wahhhhh refs. Wahhhh conspiracy. Lose with some dignity, for christ's sake. Why go down this road of stupidity? Does it make the loss any easier to stupidly blame the refs? Is it convenient so that you don't have to blame the RED WINGS for not playing a better game? No matter what it is, it's s***ty.
