Get a new goalie- Get a good goal scorer

You guys, we do need a goalie who can score more goals. Osgood is touted as a goal scoring goalie, but did he score one goal in the single playoffs? No. He is clearly a deadbeat.

Yeah, we need to pick up Brodeur. He's a guy who can score in the playoffs.

Are we in panic mode after the loss?

That's how it always goes. Look at how many "end of the season" posts there were following every Wings playoff loss.

Also why I ignore most offseason topics is because it's mostly speculation and people wanting to blow up the team. Not my cup of tea.

LGW during the summer (especially after a late round playoff loss) is like a text version of Comedy Central. Sometimes the threads are funny and entertaining (both from stupidity and/or topic choice) and sometimes I'm like WTF?

I wouldn't look too much into their posts. Hockeymom wished that Osgood was slashed in the head, and repeatedly suggested (or praised posts that said) this team can go nowhere without an enforcer. Utter facepalm material.

You're an idiot of the worst kind shoreline. You know where you can go.

ok ok ok, i guess we shud keep osgood because he is just clutch, plain and simple, but i think we got beat out by a team who wanted it more.

Of course both teams wanted it, but penguins were will to block almost every shot, they blocked 20 shots, we blocked 3, we need to get guys who are will to put there body on the line.

Also i think a reasonable guy to sign is gionta, he is quick, a grinder, and him and helm cud be need for speed.

lmao @ cud & shud

The price we pay for both goaltenders combined is sickening.. especially how well Osgood continues to play in the playoffs for us. I think he was one of the top 3 in consideration for the Conn Smythe after last season's cup, and he would have more than likely gotten it this year if we won game 7.

Goaltending was hardly the problem.. you talk about the penguins blocking so many shots and the wings blocking so little and you still think the goalie is the problem? Let's get Ozzie blocking shots coming to the net, and if he misses, he can get to his skates, burn back to his crease, and make the save. Definitely not a defensive problem there.. it's all the goalie.

...

He may have gas still in the tank but I hope he has a better regular season than last season.

Uh, I think the team did just fine in this last regular season.

You're an idiot of the worst kind shoreline. You know where you can go.

I rarely see eye to eye with Shoreline, but I certainly agree with him here---there's no logic or rational thought behind what you've posted in this thread.

My thoughts exactly. Only changes we should make are the ones that are necessitated by our cap issues.

Let Conks go and finally give Howard a chance to spell Ozzie once or twice a week. The GR kids are more then capable of filling any holes we may end up with.

I like our team.

I'm sure smart people post this kind of stuff, right?

During a stopage in play, Sean Avery "innocently" skates by Tim Thomas and "accidentally" hit him in the back of the head with his stick.

Mayhem ensues.

Here's the vid.

Man, why couldn't that have been Oz that got hit up side the head. Maybe that would light a fire under his ass.
I wished it had been Oz. Maybe that would light a fire under his ass and the team.

Bonus:

That's okay I'm a women (obiously from the username) and I agree with your wife.

The Wings best shot blocker, during the past two years, both Regular Season and Post Season, was:

Andreas Lilja.

Like it or not, belive it or not, his absence was HUGELY felt this Post Season.

And I never, EVER could have conceived of typing those words.

Hope he gets well, and comes back better than ever.

Ok, if you want a replace for Osgood you got it! his name is Ty Conklin! he fitted well during the season.. why not signing him for some years more?? he is 33 (3 years younger than Osgood) i think he is a good replace for Chris! just do like this season, alternate between Chris and Ty and that is all.. there is nothing to worry about!

HAHAHA! Just another reason some peoples post are completely irrelevant to me.

I never thought it would be said, but that is exactly what I was talking about before game 7. How I wished he would be playing. The guy is not afraid to get in front of any puck. Our PK might have been alot better. He was missed. Lily Pads was missed.

The emergence of Ericsson and the great play of Lilja this season make me believe that the Brad Stuart signing wasn't prudent one. I am not basing that decision on the poor game 7. He just suddenly seems expendable. I dunno maybe I am wrong to think so.

Even the best Goal Scorer isn't always going to score. Pavs can get the puck to whoever he wants whenever he wants doesn't mean it's always going to be a Goal for the Wings. Also I'm not concerned about Ozzie right now at this point. Once he starts showing his age I think than I will be worried. I think that when it comes to that point he will need to retire. I don't want to see him do what Hasek did; Hasek didn't even need to do what he did. We are all looking at Hossa as the big let down here, yes he didn't produce in the playoffs but a lot of players didn't produce in the playoffs or in the Finals. Pittsburgh's D was WAY BETTER than it was last year and eliminated a lot of our top goal scores from even touching the puck. Maybe Hossa thought that the rest of the team was going to be able to carry him to the Cup, I don't know if I believe that or not but I don't think we need to kick him out just yet. I know we are all analyzing this team like crazy right now becasue we lost the Cup but give it another week or two to settle in and let's get back to really thinking about what can be done and what should be done. No matter what we say it's up to the Wings organzation to make the moves and hopefully they will be the right moves, I don't know. Let's just stop all of this for a little bit sit down think about everything and let the fact that the Pens won simmer for a bit than come back refershed and with a clear head.

I know osgood was clutch in everything, but at any moment he can let in a goal.

Get a big solid goalie, say khabibulin.

I dunno im just thinking this.

Also try to ink mike cammalari to a one year deal, or a high caliber player looking to win a cup.

Hossa is good, but he was way to soft, he has a pretty big frame compared to other guys and he kept peeling off , and just holding the puck not making plays.

We need a instant goal scorer in time where we can not get anything going. Someone who can take pavel datyuks passes and make the most of them, hossa is more of a play maker than a goal scorer in my opinion, and he didn't produce.

We need a goal scorer, to stick on pavel datyuks line.

Is this supposed to be a joke? Khabibulin over Osgood? Cammaleri over Hossa? Wow.

He gave them two chances to win the Cup. The offense didn't respond.
