YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 Should Hudler, Sammy, and Hossa demand too much money, would you welcome back: 1. The Swan Song: Brendan Shanahan @ 1 year, 500-850k, third line role, PP specialist Or 2. Philly's Salary Cap Victim: Mike Knuble @ 1-2 years, 1.5-2.2M, third line/2nd line role, PP specialist Keep in mind the obvious: If Shanahan and Knuble want more money, then these scenarios are out the door. shoe 165 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 good call, id go for either or and or both, 2 Dallas drakes running around out there? wow!
KronwallCRUNCH 5 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 Shanny is not Dallas Drake. Just because they're both old, it doesn't mean that Shanahan would be Drake v 2.0. Drake was an energy guy that was hungry for a cup, and played with a reckless abandon to get it. Shanahan is an elderly sniper that used to be a power forward and wouldn't help our team very much. In 34 games last year, he finished with 14 pts, and more importantly a -2. You actually believe that he'd sniff a spot on the PK? Knuble would be great, but I don't think that we'd pay him what he get in other cities, so unless he really wanted to come back to Detroit, I don't think it would ever happen. Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 This is more like Greg Johnson 2.0... I would welcome back Shanahan + sign Moen.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 This is more like Greg Johnson 2.0... I would welcome back Shanahan + sign Moen. How so? Both guys can still contribute. Especially Knuble. Greg Johnson was the walking dead when he was "signed".
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 That's it, guys. We came on win within winning the Stanley Cup, but it's time to bring back all the players who couldn't get it done in the years before the Babcock era! I'd like a player like Shanny used to be, but he's just a shell now and we really need an energy guy with a lot of talent. I'm not really familiar in depth with Knuble, but I hear good things. I don't think he'd take 1 or 2 million, though, even if we had it to offer.
Johnny Diamonds 25 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 Knuble= good penalty killer. To me that's worth more than Hudler and Sammy combined!
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 Actually i would simply say... none of those two and just make a call to the U.P. to get Sir Dallas Drake back in the line up nothing is better than Sir Dallas 1.0 you can't fix perfection even if you put a 2.0 on the end
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 Knuble= good penalty killer. To me that's worth more than Hudler and Sammy combined! Yeah, if we pick up anyone it's someone who'll block shots or kill penalties. That was our achilles heel, and with Lilja expected to remain out we really need to beef up in that department. Krayzie_Bone 58 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 (edited) Neither keep Adbelcater (dont feel like looking up how to spell it) Leino and Helm on the roster and sign a decent somewhat younger goalie like maybe Niittymaki or Biron or even scott Clemenson. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 Yeah, I'd sign either. But I just love big Canadians, dont hurt there former Wings . Honestly, for those prices it really couldnt hurt.
Broken 16 381 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 I'd like to see Knuble back. Pass on Shanahan. Too slow and too lazy defensively and on the back check.

IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 If Hossa accepts this current offer ofcourse I want Hossa. That is a good deal. I don't think he will stay to be honest, not for this money. I am a Hossa supporter but if he refuses, let him walk and go in another direction. I am more about the Wings than any one of them solitary. Now the other direction does not involve Shanny at all. Later homie, love ya but we got no bed here for ya. I would not mind taking a peek at Knuble. I know you guys won't like this, I am pretty sure he is a UFA, but I would not mind taking a crack at Carcillo. He has proven to have a bit of scoring and a bit of fight to him, without being a straight up enforcer or goon. You can get him cheap, actually a kid like that might cream his undies for a shot to play with the Wings... Thats my input... I know he is nothing like getting an old timer but f' it I said it anyways.

xBrave_Heartx 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 How is Knuble or Shanny anything close to Drake? Drake is a balls to the wall player, who would give anything for his team. He was a classic meat and potatoes player who would do whatever it took to win at all costs.. Shanny and Knuble are watered down players who struggle to keep up with the pace of todays game.
