wingsgirl001 983 Report post Posted June 19, 2009 Aww, wanted Pavel to get the Hart. Ah well, at least he got two of his four.
Theophany 110 Report post Posted June 19, 2009 Hart should have gone to Pasha... No it shouldn't have. He's not the most valuable to the team, regardless of how amazing of a player he is. BTW, classy Mike Green; good job being happy for your boy Ovie. I've seen happier people at a funeral, in all honesty. Don't be so butt-hurt that your mohawk didn't win you the Norris. Guest Four Report post Posted June 19, 2009 True, but I don't see how they get Vezina and Norris, yet they lose to the least-scoring team O.o
Theophany 110 Report post Posted June 19, 2009 If you don't think Chara deserves it, you're an idiot. He's easily top 5 defensemen in the league. Nick deserves it, but winning 6 out of the last 8 is kinda redundant. Only Harvey and Orr have won it more times at this point. I was going to break something if Green won it, but to say Chara doesn't deserve it is ridiculous.
Snazzy 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2009 I didn't get to watch this, but it sounds like it was a Penguins circle jerk fest. Get use to it I guess, 10 years from now they'll be blowing Crosby for his lonely 09 cup win.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted June 19, 2009 No it shouldn't have. He's not the most valuable to the team, regardless of how amazing of a player he is. Let me rephrase that: I THINK Pasha should have won the Hart. I think that. My opinion differs from yours. Doesn't make it not true. It was obvious what an impact Datsyuk had on this team when he was out of games in the finals. I believe we would have won the Cup with Pasha healthy and Lilja, too. Wish Nick had won the Norris, too. But Chara was everything to his team, so OK. And yay, for Tim Thomas. I love that he won the Vez.

It doesn't make your opinion not true, but it does invalidate it as a logical opinion. I would have loved to see Pavel win the Hart. Was he going to? No, obviously. Did he deserve to win it? No. Ovechkin has done so much more for his team than Pavel has done for the Wings it's pretty ridiculous. If you took off your homer glasses for just a second and watched any hockey but Red Wings hockey, you'd know that. By the way, we still won with Pavel out and we still lost with him back. He's not a make-or-break player on a team as deep as we are. The Caps wouldn't have won a single game in the playoffs without AO. He's that much of an impact player for them (mostly because the rest of the team is terrible).

Datsyuk deserves the Norris more than Green- he scored more goals, killed more penatlies, played more defense and played better defense. On the upside, Green gave the puck away more often than anyone in the league (well except for two other guys, but top three is good, right?).

I think the real distinction is that Datsyuk would be a league wide MVP, but not necessarily the guy who provided the single greatest contribution to his team. Datsyuk has too many good players around him. Ovi is swimming in a sea of mediocrity. I understand where Puckloo is coming from- scoring 97pts AND being the best defensive player in the league is pretty f***in' impressive. The problem is that Ovechkin is the Capitals AND he's the best player in the league (and hey, he averaged 60 goals a season over the last two). Ovi definitely deserves his haul tonight. If there's a carpenter in the Washington area that's reading this give Ovi a call, I heard he needs a bigger trophy case.
