russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 The 12th forward is most likely going to be a 500k per year guy that the wings sign late in the summer. Looking at the free agent lists there is one guy im really interested in. What do people think about bringing Matt Ellis back to be the 12th forward?
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 Actually, that is a very good idea. Great character, strong defensively and can occasionally score. I'm all for it.

Yeah, I figure that a 4th line of Maltby-Draper-Ellis would be great defensively, plus Ellis fits the mold of guy who can play Winger or Center, which is something the Wings loe to have. Scotty 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 As a matter of fact... I would love to have Matt Ellis come back to Detroit and play on the fourth line. I was kind of disappointed when he went to L.A because he was a solid fourth- line, two- way player who could chip in and score from time to time. I'm all for Ellis coming back to Detroit. russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 No. Is there any reason you are opposed to it. I mean if he signed for league minimum who are we going to get for better at that price. And signing a league minimum player for 12th forward means more money for hudler or whoever is replacing hudler/sammy.
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 Any 4th line with Maltby and Draper on it is going to fail...so might as well stick a fighter on it so every time the 4th line is out there can be a fight to stop the opposition scoring. In all seriousness, lets have an actual 4th line out there this year that has a purpose. Its never going to be for scoring with those two on it, so might as well make it an energy line and get them out on the forecheck to bang some bodies.
