Opie 308 Report post Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) What are they doing, breaking down and rebuilding or trying to win now? This is the most confusing off season in a long god damned time. Jeff Finger of last year doesn't come close to being as mind boggling, that had Wilson written all over it, so that made sense, HONTA YO! Is this the year that not being able to work that cap starts catching up on teams or is the economy causing this to be wacky? I mean Heatley wants out because they are supposedly rebuilding and they go out and sign this guy? Are they planning on floating around in both zones? P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted July 6, 2009 TSN The Kovalev signing comes at a time where the Senators are struggling to move forward Dany Heatley, who requested a trade last week, and twice wouldn't lift his no-movement clause to go to the Edmonton Oilers. wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted July 6, 2009 Hmm this is an interesting move... This mean that Heatley is finally going to wave his no trade clause?
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 From Toronto Star : "I think you always want your player to play 100 per cent, and that's difficult over 82 games and if you are judgmental you can find a hole," Murray told reporters. "I think Alex, they claim, has been a little more inconsistent than he should be. I think the opposite. I think when he plays great he can win a game for you." The damage control has already started. cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted August 28, 2009 And, with the ink of his signature dried, this; from TSN : It was an unusual statement to make, considering the team that Alex Kovalev just came from and the team for whom he will soon suit up. The former Montreal Canadiens forward - who signed a two-year, $10 million deal with the Ottawa Senators as a free agent this summer - told reporters on Thursday that he likes the idea of finishing his career in Montreal. Maybe his stall in the dressing room is going to be next to Heatley. Or, he's realized that Ottawa already has a captain.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 From TSN: After taking aim at the team's defence corps, Senators' general manager Bryan Murray shifted his focus to the Sens' underachieving sniper, Alex Kovalev."Not very good," Murray told reporters on Wednesday when asked about the enigmatic Russian's play thus far. "It looks like his skating isn't where it was last year. I think there's lingering effects maybe from the surgery he had. I'm hoping that's part of it and, as time goes on, he gets going." ... With Kovalev, it's SSDT.

If I play great I could carry any NHL team to the championships. The key word is "if."
