Opie 308 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 A defensmen, this must be a GR move. 29 year old played 2 games in Mon and 13 in Dal last year. in 06-07 71 for TBL followed by 65 the next? 161 NHL 16 points 123 pims. The Wings now have 12 D and 8 forwards what the hell? (Obviously an exaggeration)

grwingfan 21 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 I think you mean Doug Janik is a Griffin.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 I guess the Wings noticed a positive effect of having vets like McCarty and Downey mentoring the Griffins and want to keep the streak going?
NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Well, always good to have some defensemen in reserve. We got hit by the injury bug but good last season/playoffs, so even if he doesn't see many games in a Wings uniform (if any...), it's good to have someone who we can call up whose last name doesn't start with K and is inconsistent. Heaton 1 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Also broken on mlive, we've signed Staffan Kronwall. So lots of good useful defenceman in the minors should we need them this year. The Flames signed Staffan.

Guest E_S_A_D Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Oh man nice fight! Excellent signing. It's of no risk to sign him and he's very entertaining to watch. Put him on the 4th defensive pairing (after he proves he's solid in GR) and watch him lay out some people around OZzie.

Put him on the 4th defensive pairing (after he proves he's solid in GR) and watch him lay out some people around OZzie. if he's on the fourth pairing, wouldn't that mean he's either in GR or is a healthy scratch? GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted July 8, 2009 Excellent signing. It's of no risk to sign him and he's very entertaining to watch. Put him on the 4th defensive pairing (after he proves he's solid in GR) and watch him lay out some people around OZzie. Lilja will beat this puss into submission in training camp. He is a better fighter than Kopecky, though. Still not the Boogaard that I was hoping for.

"13 games for the Dallas Stars and two games for the Montreal Canadiens last season, finishing with one assist and four penalty minutes." It's a one year two way contract

Opie 308 Report post Posted July 9, 2009 Holy crap, sorry for the outburst but a lot of double and triple threads lately. Having said that: Read the board man, this is the second thread on this in the last 2 hours and there is another one on the second page. In order to break news on this website the story must be no older than 2 minutes, if it is older than 2 minutes or on TSN it is on this board already, especially if it deals with the Winged Wheel!
