Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 This is Schneider's 4th team since leaving Detroit in 2007. Funny how alot of times after a player leaves Detroit, he bounces around the league without finding a solid home.

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 IIRC, he left us to go to Analheim to be closer to his home in California. Atlanta, Montreal, Vancouver... getting closer. I kid. I still like Schneids. Now that Sammy's there, who can blame him? I think I'm going to be rooting for them as a second-tier-on-my-list-of-faves team.
Bluedevils_13 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) Wouldn't this signing put them over the cap? They have to be thinking about trading a defenseman... Bieksa, Kevin 3.750 6 Salo, Sami 3.500 8 Mitchell, Willie 3.500 23 Edler, Alexander 3.250 - Ehrhoff, Christian 3.100 55 O'Brien, Shane 1.600 - Lukowich, Brad 1.567 44 Baumgartner, Nolan 0.550 Nycholat, Lawrence 0.500 - Schneider, Mathieu 2.75? You add the resigning of the Sedin twins and Lulongos contract to this mix and you have to think they will need to make some cap adjustments before the start of the season
wingfan1991 221 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 He signed for 1.55m/1 year deal... That's a steal in my books!

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 He signed for 1.55m/1 year deal... That's a steal in my books! That is a steal. I'm sure it has something to do with it being the end of August. He's probably getting a bit desperate.
Bartek 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2009 (edited) That is a steal. I'm sure it has something to do with it being the end of August. He's probably getting a bit desperate. Schneider wasn't desperate. He told his agent he only wanted to play in Vancouver because he said it was best for him and his family. Schneider said he kind of "handcuffed" him. I would rather have Schneider than Williams at $1.5M. Williams is signed for PP and nothing else...

Mors 201 Report post Posted August 30, 2009 Schneider is a good guy, I'm still a fan. I always have fond memories of him elbowing Tootoo in the face in Nashville.
swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) Schneider is still one of my favorites. I have watched his career and learned about his past since he has been here. I think people remember - Seriously, I cried the day he left. I was the one with the crazy Jewish threads on Hannukah for him, and was arguing that he was a major loss, even though somepeople hoped it as a bulldozer instead of the door that hit him on the way out. I have still been scrounging enough cash to make my own Schneids sweater.. to no avail. Still like the way he plays. Name a better American Defenseman other than Chelly. Love the pearly whites. Go Schneids. Sincerely, your most irrational fan. EDIT: (Kelsey) Grammar. Edited August 31, 2009 by swedishconnection
RedWings Gone Wild 6 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Name a better American Defenseman other than Chelly. Don't get me wrong, I like ol' Schneider a lot.. but Housley and Leetch were both better IMO.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) Name a better American Defenseman other than Chelly. All-time? I can think of four offhand. 1) Mark Howe 2) Brian Leetch 3) Phil Housley 4) Gary Suter. Could pass Schneider on the All-Time list: Brian Rafalski, Paul Martin, Keith Ballard, Tom Gilbert Edited August 31, 2009 by eva unit zero

Suter, Leetch, and possibly B-Raf. --> Mark Howe? Really? Can I ask for your arguement? (Im thinking I missed something.)

swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 HOWE: GP G A Pts PIM Playoffs: GP G A Pts PIM 929 197 545 742 455 101 10 51 61 34 Schneider: GP G A Pts PIM Playoffs: GP G A Pts PIM 1264 221 513 734 1229 111 10 43 53 155 Schneider = 0.17 goals per game Schneider = 0.41 assists per game Schneider = 0.5 points per game over 1200 games Howe = 0.21 goals per game Howe = 0.59 assists per game Howe = 0.80 points per game okey dokey. Howe obviously wins. Playoffs though- dont I have an argument? 51 points versus 43? What about pm's in the playoffs? doesnt that mean that hes "tough"? (Im kidding) I rescind my previous comment and grovel for forgiveness. When was the last time someone admitted incorrect assumptions on LGW? I dont really care. I just hink that Schneider was a decent d-man and was extremely sad to see him go.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Schneider is the reason Yzerman was out for games 5 and 6 of the Western Semis in 04. Damn high shot bastard. Oh well, good luck in Vancouver. That's really not fair. The shot was definately deflected, which took a bit of speed off the shot. I don't think Yzerman would have a left eye right now had the shot not been deflected and had hit him at full speed. Only video I found, you can't really see the shot coming. Oh well. But you want to talk about INTENT to injure?
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Classic Examples: Martin Lapointe Mathieu Dandenault Boyd Devereaux Sergei Fedorov Manny Legace Worked out well for Ray Whitney, though. Most players that have left were just role players in Detroit, so I don't know why other teams expected them to be great all of a sudden.
