Zetterberg.

Had a bit of an off year last year, but a great playoff yet again. I would have personally ranked him ahead of Datsyuk, but for some reason, people here disagreed with that decision.

I thought you said you would keep voting Lids

collectively, at least. And just to pass the time between now and the start of the season.

edit: I realized that I could explain this alot better...

anyway, I ultimately want to compile a list of the top 20 players in the league at this moment, but because everyone has their own opinions and blah blah blah, I want to take a bit more scientific* method of compiling the top 20. So I propose that we submit a vote for each of the 20 spots on the list individually, and I tally up the votes. That way, the majority vote will be the what's expressed on the list, and not just a compilation of 1000 lists that most people just skim through anyways.

But to make it interesting (and to clear up problems that I see occurring down the road), I want voting to occur on one position at a time. That is, first we will all vote on who is the best overall player in the league right now, and after we're done voting (I'll let you know when I'm going to tally up the votes), that player will be locked in the top spot, and we can begin voting on the second best player using all the players that are still left. That means whoever gets the top spot can't be voted to be second best or third best or eighth best or any other best. I won't include votes for repeats.

Also, use whatever definition you feel best for "best player". Try to include offensive and defensive awareness, stamina, passing accuracy, shooting accuracy, shooting power, physicality, grittiness, etc etc etc etc.

Sound good?

So lets start the voting off on position number 1.

*scientific is being used incredibly loosely. Don't hold me accountable for any "science" that may or may not occur in this thread.

Votings for losers. Enter fights you can win (or at least get paid for).

I could easily waste my time explaining why I think someone else is number one, but the legions of homers who blindly write nothing but datsyuk or zetterberg nullifies any interest I have in bothering with the matter.

Cool story, bro.

And thank you for wasting thirty seconds of my life by posting in a thread with absolutely nothing to contribute.

I'm completely lost as in to what position is being voted for at the moment.

We're voting for 6th place, or best player that isn't Ovechkin, Lidstrom, Crosby, Datsyuk, or Malkin. I'm going to keep voting alive for a bit longer for this round because we currently only have 17 votes and someone who apparently gets off by trying to put others down, so you still have time to get your vote in.

Is there a certain number of votes you're shooting for? Unless it's significantly more you can probably call the round now because Hank has 11 votes. Well, make that 12, because I'm also voting for Zetterberg.

Zetterberg once again.

I'm guessing this guy just saw all the Zetterberg votes and thought this was for the top player. We're on number 6 big guy, try to at least pay attention so you don't come off as a complete ******...again.

Ideally I was hoping for 30+ per round, but realistically I want to at least break 20.

And with that I'll close the voting for 6th place at 20 votes even (That vote for Datsyuk was thrown out because he already placed).

Zetterberg won this round with 13 votes, or 65%.

Kovalchuk and Iginla came in 2nd with 2 votes each (10%)

Broduer, Getzlaf, and Luongo came in third with 1 vote each (5%).

1) Ovechkin

2) Lidstrom

3) Crosby

4) Datsyuk

5) Malkin

6) Zetterberg

Now to begin voting on 7th best! It will be interesting to see how everything turns out now that all the standard big names are in (I think we all can agree that the top 6 would be in the top 6 one way or another).

I'll start off voting with Kovalchuk for 7th.
