rwfan007 18 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Longtime Tigers broadcaster and current member of the baseball hall-of-fame Ernie Harwell has been diagnosed with an incurable tumor in the area of the bile duct. He is a legend in broadcasting and I am sure has made a lasting impression on anyone who ever listened to his voice on the radio or to those who have had the privilege of meeting him. I am sure we will be seeing him at the ballpark until his health forces him to stop. What a legend he is! http://freep.com/article/20090903/NEWS05/3...arwell-s-spirit
TheDetroitRedWings 286 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Damn...that's really sad. I mean I know the guy is like almost 90 years old. But still, he's just one of the guys you wish could just go on forever. I remember a few years back he threw out the first pitch at a Tigers game, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Ernie SPRINT out to the mound like he was in his 20s or something. It was amazing to see from such an old guy. One of the best broadcasters of all time. I hope he still has years left, as opposed to months. I'll be praying for ya Ernie! GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Very sad news. Tough year so far for some real sports legends in Detroit. That article is pretty impressive. He seems to have such a positive grasp on the situation. I wish Ernie and his family the best.
