A Risk Worth Taking?

When it comes to Fantasy Hockey, I tend to be a risk taker at the beginning of the season and draft a few guys that may be a huge bust or a big suprise.

I think my biggest two risks this season are Jonathan Cheechoo and Paul Kariya. Cheechoo has proven that he can score, if he goes to a new team, could that respark the old Cheechoo that lit up the scorecard? Kariya is another one, coming off of a major injury, but if he stays healthy, could be put up another 60-70 point season?

I usually trust my gut, and try to fill in bench spots with players like this opposed to the more popular risks. Who are you gambling on this season? My roster is below, it is a league that reflects PIM positively, currently with ten teams.

I'm reasonably happy with the team I have, i'd like to unload a couple of defensemen but i'll work with what I have.

Forwards

Sidney Crosby

Ryan Getzlaf

Ilya Kovalchuk

Vincent Lecavalier

Derick Brassard

David Bolland

Erik Cole

Jamie Langenbrunner

Ryan Malone

Defense

Zdeno Chara

Craig Rivet

Marek Zidlicky

Wade Redden (cant unload unfortunately)

Erik Johnson

Goaltenders

Jonas Hiller

Chris Mason

Bench

Paul Kariya

Marian Hossa

Jonathan Cheechoo

Petr Sykora

Lubomir Visnovsky

Marty Turco

Not a fan of hiller... I don't think Anaheim's going anywhere this year which means unless he carrys the team his stats won't be that good.

No.. not a big fan either. I traded Seabrook and Nabokov for Chara and Hiller. I figured if Anaheim/Hiller aren't all that in the fantasy world this season, I can fall back on Turco and the potential of Dallas having a decent year.

My weakest area is obviously defense, so I needed that one solid dman in Chara.

I'm having second thoughts on Cheechoo, thinking about dropping him and picking up Leino from waivers. Something tells me Leino is going to produce more this season.
