Carman 387 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 Predict the winners of the awards for this following season. Feel free to add nominees and explanations. Bolded my picks. Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy Alexander Ovechkin *Marion Gaborik if he stays healthy might challenge. But that will never happen. Or will it? Don't see anyone really challenging him for goals this year at least. As long as he stays healthy the guy will keep improving his goal scoring tallies. Art Ross Trophy Jarome Iginla Lots and lots of points this year for Iggy. Lester B. Pearson Trophy Henrik Zetterberg Alexander Ovechkin Jarome Iginla It's going to be a gigantic year for Zetterberg after a subpar year last year he is going really break out and have a career year. Vezina Trophy Steve Mason Tim Thomas His young team is only going to get better with their system, adding a veteran like Palhsson might rub off on some of their younger forwards and make for a very stout defensive team. Norris Trophy Nicklas Lidstrom Shea Weber Zdeno Chara Lidstrom will make-up for his slow start last year and be far and away the best defenseman this year. Calder Trophy Victor Hedman John Tavares Ville Leino Hedman has looked absolutely brilliant so far in the preseason. The guy is going to get the most ice-time of all the rookies and the Lightning actually seem to have added a lot of talent this off season to help him. Lady Byng Trophy Pavel Datsyuk Mike Richards Martin St. Louis Frank Selke Trophy Henrik Zetterberg Mike Richards Ryan Kesler Zetterberg is going to lead the wing's defensively as they rebound from a very un-wing like defensive season last year. Jack Adams Trophy Adam Murray John Tortorella Brent Sutter Blues are really going to impress this year. Adam Murray will help them make the playoffs and maybe win a game vs. the Wing's. Masterton Trophy Theo Fluery!!!! I wish.... William J. Jennings Trophy Steve Mason Hart Trophy Jarome Iginla Alex Ovechkin Henrik Zetterberg Not really sure why, I just think he'll have a great year with Jokinen and Bouwmeester and really rack up the points. Who are your picks?
The Mule 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 I really don't see the Jackets allowing the fewest goals this year.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) Well, atleast you didn't play it safe... Mine: Hart Ovechkin wish it could be someone else, such as Datsyuk, but unless Forsberg actually decides to come to the Caps and has a fantastic year people are going to keep believing that Ovie is completely alone on that team. Lester B Crosby Art Ross Crosby I just have a feeling... Maurice Rocket Richard Ovechkin hey who else? Vezina Lundqvist after a so-and-so last year (which was still great by most goalies standards), he is now in 100% physical condition and will be looking to rebound. Selke Mike Richards he was close to winning this last year, and I think he'll take it next year. I'm predicting a slightly worse year for Pavel than he's had the past two, and I think Hank will continue to be overlooked. Calder Jonas Gustavsson or Ville Leino. I don't believe in Tavares so much. Lady Byng Datsyuk I know most people don't care about that award, but if he takes it one more time it sure would be amazing. Jack Adams Mike Babcock hey, he has to get it sometime right? forgot the Norris Lidstrom Believe. The playoffs must have made people realize that Green is terrible defensively, and also I don't think Green will be able to score as many goals this year. The Mule 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 What's this about Forsberg joining the Caps? Is that just speculation on your part, or does that idea have any legs?
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) Hart Ovechkin Crosby and Malkin will be close, but Ovechkins goal totals and lack of help makes him the MVP. Lester B. Pearson Crosby Art Ross Sidney Crosby I think he'll get a buttload of assists this year. Maurice Rocket Richard Ovechkin He'll push 60 again this year. Vezina Luongo Vancouver's defence got deeper and stronger, I dont see Luongo having a slow start this year. William Jennings Tim Thomas Norris Lidstrom Skills are starting to go, but I think Nick still has it in him. Selke Datsyuk Mike Richards will be neck and neck with him, but I dont see Datsyuk losing this one. Calder Tavares He's the real deal Lady Byng Datsyuk Well... way she goes Jack Adams John Stevens I'm predicting Philly has a big year. Carman 387 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 I really don't see the Jackets allowing the fewest goals this year. Eh they were 9th last year. It's quite a stretch though. I'm just hoping a goalie can actually separate themselves from the rest and I'm putting my chips in with S. Mason
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted September 26, 2009 What's this about Forsberg joining the Caps? Is that just speculation on your part, or does that idea have any legs? Sources say that Philly and the Caps are the top two teams on his list if he's going for the NHL. And Philly sources seem to indicate that they aren't interested. I would have to think Washington would be though, with them losing Fedorov and trying to get rid of Nylander it would be perfect to bring in a guy like Forsberg if he's healthy. Impressions from Forsberg's comeback are good so far, his skating looks good and he has 2 goals 1 assist in 2 games, so it's not impossible.
