Did I say you were anti-enforcer?

I just said you claimed you aren't one, and yet you always seem to be arguing with pro-enforcer posters in enforcer threads. Seems a little fishy.

I've made my stance pretty clear on the subject.

I enjoy having enforcers in the lineup, because they work hard, don't hurt the team, and stir s*** up on the ice. I however do not believe they are incredibly significant in the grand scheme of things, and I argue with the "pro-enforcer" crowd because of this. Unlike some I don't argue in black and white and I think that is the biggest problem with these threads. Either you like enforcers and they deter cheapshots or you like Euros and hate anyone who fights. It's ridiculous.

Next time we have a thread like this I'm going to have to say this all over again because someone is going to forget.

There's your proof.

Actually, I watch ALL the Wings games begining to end. Brad May is doing a good job at what he was supposed to do but he's not one of the top players on the team. Yes he was brought in before the injuries but without the injuries he would be back and forth to Grand Rapids and in and out of the line-up just like MacCarty and Downey. Right now he is chewing up ice time being a tough guy because we are short on goal scorers.

Yes there are other factors but May is 1 dimensional. He's a tough guy. He doesn't score, he doesn't set guys up to score, he's not fast and he's not particulary good defensively.

I'm ok with having an enforcer if he can actually contribute but May isn't that guy and there aren't many Jarome Iginla's around.

I agree with the bolded part. I'm not sure where you are going with the rest because I think May does a great job grinding the puck out in the opposition zone and on the fore-check. Aaron Downey was more of a one-dimensional. May is a good grinder.

Jarome Iginla isn't an enforcer. Can you explain this last point more clearly?

Wait, do you think Jarome Iginla is an enforcer?

I love these enforcer threads. You got ESAD, micah and uk_redwing one one side, and you have shoreline, Doc Holliday (who claims he isn't anti-enforcer), and shoreline on the other side. It's like a broken record.

As this thread adds pages, it becomes less about May or fighters and more about an invented argument, and your short little post proves it. Doc has repeatedly, across many different threads, stated how he enjoys having a fighter on the team. As much as I dislike Shoreline's emoticons, he's pretty spot on when it comes to the true reason for this threads existence.

Again, please note it is always the "pro-enforcers" who bump this thread looking for a fight (PUN!), never the "anti-enforcers". If the latter group actually existed we'd see them troll-baiting every time May didn't fight, lost a fight, or a player was injured.

If you prefer, would you like me to create a new thread for everytime I think there's an argument regarding May being in the line-up? The opposition was so incredibly strong preseason against May if I remember correctly (I can cite posts, APA style if needed). Also, I remember Leino being the next Messiah who is going to have the breakthrough year we've all been anticipating.

If that were the case I'd be your twin.

Also I don't know who didn't want May in the lineup. I loved the guy after seeing his interview where he was trying to sell himself to Kenny.

And there were high hopes for Leino because he did have a good few games statistically last year. So forgive us for expecting him to do well this season.

The Ignore Feature:

I just used it for chrisdetroit after he posted that Iginla is an enforcer. Wrong. Anyways, I highly suggest for those of you that are intrigued by me that you put me on the IGNORE LIST.

No, you can't quote anyone in APA, MLA, Turabian, whatever, because no one was saying it. They may have been against you saying it. They may have opposed those who blasted Holland for saying it. But in the end, once the transaction was completed, no one complained about May being signed. No one, right now, is complaining about May being on the team or the job he's doing on the team. Even chrisdetroit said he's doing a good job.

That's kind of the problem with baiting people, and especially in such a detached environment as the Internet: sometimes the point is lost in the argument, especially if the point of the thread is the argument.

Since you're asking my preference, when May drops the gloves with someone, you could always sing his praises in the GDT. Not in a way that is actually a swipe at those you deem to be "anti-enforcer". If you like the guy so much you could actually cheer him on just for the sake of cheering him on, y'know.

Secondly, no argument is needed for May being in the lineup because no one is calling for him to be benched. Since you brought up Leino, look at how many negative posts are out there, how many people are calling for him to be benched. Does that mean LGW is anti-Finn?

Unfortunately, when you start a thread, your reputation proceeds you. I'm right there with you when it comes to cheering on May because I think he's doing a great job. I just don't feel the need to perpetuate a contrived argument.
