Doesn't have the dedication to help his team win games and won't be able to keep up the pace especially with the injuries that are bound to happen with the dirty and irresponsible way he plays the game. Now real players like Crosby or Richards(who actually play the game both ways) will have a chance at it for sure. I have been on this site for over 3 years now and I love it for all the insight and opinions that people express. I have read some pretty dumb posts but NONE of them have prompted me to make my first post UNTIL NOW. CARMAN- You obviously know nothing about Ovie if you say he occasionally gets a lucky goal. He leads the league every year in shots on goal and by more then 100 shots to the next closest person. Does he magically get open? Does a genie fall down from the sky and get him all these shots on goal. "Irresponsible" was the word i believe you used... The last time I checked he was a +10 so please name me an irresposible player with a +10 rating right now. It amazes me how people can deny Ovie his praise because he is HANDS DOWN THE MOST DOMINATING PLAYER IN THE GAME. Call it whatever you want but there is only one thing that I know for sure, Youe post and your evaluation of Ovie was the dumbest post I have read on here in 3 years! Get a clue buddy! If he's beating your team consistently, then, well, I can see where the animosity would develop. Or, if you're a "traditionalist" that opposes the showing of emotion on the ice, that is, unless it's North American emotion... but if your logic is on the basis that someone can get lucky enough to consistently lead or be near the top of the league in points, goals, and shots... then I would implore you, even if you're of the traditionalist persuasion, to consider how immensely important Ovechkin is to the league's future... No, I don't think he's gods gift to the ice, and I entirely believe that Datsyuk and Zetterberg should be considered in his league on the merits of their defensive ability, but Ovie is simply the only.. I repeat.. ONLY star this game has with any mainstream crossover potential. No one else puts up the numbers, while simultaneously having the team success and entertaining personality. Crosby is as dull as a box of tampons, just looking at Malkin makes me want to nap, Joe Thornton is to clutch as Fox is to news, Kane beats up cabbies, Toews is boring as hell on offense, and who else is there? Kopitar? Eric Staal? Stamkos? The only legitimate shot the NHL has at someone with mainstream appeal who can generate the production and personality to captivate is Ovechkin. If you have any vested interest in the NHL continuing to grow, you should hope for the best with Ovechkin.. especially since the Wings don't have to play him often. It's amazing that as ridiculous the statements Carman makes that ppl dont at least have an inkling that he's just trying to get under their skin. THat being said, if he really wanted to f*** with ppl he/she should make the comments a little more realistic. Throwing Crosby in as a comparison was good because everyone here hates him but throwing Richards in just made it too outlandish to believe. Maybe another Wing killer would have been good like Ryan Getzlaf. Hell, he could have said Max Talbot because of what he did in the finals and it would have had a better chance of being beleived.
