Wombat 26 Report post Posted November 8, 2009 Not being able to tell how much he was bleeding... I would think it would have been better to roll him off on a stretcher quickly instead of helping him slowly skate off the ice. Hopefully he's OK and makes full recovery. Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted November 8, 2009 (edited) I have a feeling his knee will never look the same again. Looks to me the skate bounced off the knee and probably put a serious if not several nice gashes in the area. Edited November 8, 2009 by CaliWingsNut

WpgMikos 17 Report post Posted November 8, 2009 (edited) As per NHL.com: Ward stays in hospital, out a minimum 3-4 weeks: Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward remained in the hospital Sunday after suffering a skate laceration to his upper leg by Columbus Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash in a game Saturday night, and is expected to miss a minimum of 3-4 weeks. Ward was injured during the first period of the Hurricanes' 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets. He was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus and received stitches for the injury. After being kept overnight, it was decided Sunday that Ward would spend another day in the hospital for precautionary reasons. Brutal for the Canes. It may be time for the Wings to start circling the corpse, looking for a player..... Edited November 8, 2009 by WpgMikos

russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted November 9, 2009 Rumor is that Carolina may sign Manny Legace as a temporary replacement for Cam Ward while he is injured. LINK RALEIGH NEWS & OBSERVER: Chip Alexander makes his best guess the Hurricanes could sign UFA goalie Manny Legace as a short-term replacement for the injured Cam Ward. Legace has NHL starter experience and is currently playing for the AHL's Chicago Wolves. SPECTOR'S NOTE: A good guess by Alexander, who also noted the Hurricanes have few options available to them. GM Jim Rutherford could attempt a trade but there's little movement in the market at this time of year so he might have no choice but to consider the UFA route.
