Carman 387 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Hmm interesting claim. Good to see yet another Sparty, but I can't say I know a whole lot else about him other then his playoff run with Anaheim. What's his salary, what's his style?
creedie 2 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) He was making $525,000 in TB. according to CBS Sports: "Miller had four goals and six assists for the Ducks last season. He appeared in all 13 playoff games, with two goals, one assist and two penalty minutes. He was selected by Anaheim in the sixth round of the 2003 draft. Miller has had a tough time cracking the Ducks' lineup full time and it will be interesting to see how he fits with the Lightning. Miller could have sleeper potential." Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 You had such a wonderful opportunity to title the thread "Wings get Miller" and freak out the entire LGW community, then throw us for a loop by revealing the first name is "Drew".

Guest E_S_A_D Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Classic Holland. Ignore your hardworking minor leaguers and pick up a guy that has zero points in 14 games. Lovely.
Carman 387 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Classic Holland. Ignore your hardworking minor leaguers and pick up a guy that has zero points in 14 games. Lovely. Is he for sure going to play in the NHL? Maybe he was signed to replace on of the GR guys?
Rice 42 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Classic Holland. Ignore your hardworking minor leaguers and pick up a guy that has zero points in 14 games. Lovely. Why do you assume he's going to be playing in the NHL?
Guest E_S_A_D Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Why do you assume he's going to be playing in the NHL? Then why pick him up? He's getting paid $500,000. You do realize that's steep for a guy of his caliber.
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 wow... haven't seen the Wings make a waiver claim in a long time... that's odd to hear... When was the last time the Wings were out of the playoff picture to start November and without four key starters with long term injuries? Many Wings fans will face a lot of new experiences this season. Heck, many Wings players will face a lot of new experiences this season. On a related note, anyone notice how Holland keeps replacing the skilled European personnel losses with young, gritty North Americans?

Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Classic Holland. Ignore your hardworking minor leaguers and pick up a guy that has zero points in 14 games. Lovely. I can't remember where this was pointed out, but someone mentioned that perhaps KH is sending a message to the minor leaguers, who apparently aren't really working very hard, by refusing to call them up to the big league. It's a strange pick-up, but hey, he signed Brad May, he must know something we don't right?
hillbillywingsfan 792 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 yea... but all of us would have entered the thread knowing it wasn't Ryan - there's no way Buffalo lets him go ever... that is his brother though right?
hockey23 79 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Then why pick him up? He's getting paid $500,000. You do realize that's steep for a guy of his caliber. league minimum is steep? And if he was sent down to GR he's on a two-way deal so he would only be making $100k.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Huh. Guessing this is purely a depth move, in case we get another injury or something?

Icer 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 that is his brother though right? Yes, he's Ryan's younger brother. He's also cousins with Kip, Kelly, and Kevin Miller who played a combined 2000+ games in the NHL.
Icesurfer 75 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Nice thing about Drew Miller is that he is on a two-way contract... so when injured Wings come back they won't have to trade away anyone.... but don't know if he is subject to re-entry waivers.
