If Ozzie was in net tonight, I have a feeling we would have lost this 5-2. GOOD WIN, feels sooo weird to win a game that was practically won by the goalie.

Yeah, no kidding... It's a bit ackward. Like I just got caught watching a porno or something.

Seems that their complacency mode has on/off switch.

today it was "on" yet they still won.

wings were lucky team today.

It wasn't complacency; it was blowing their energy load the night before in Columbus. The Canucks had the luxury of a night off.

This was a good, gutty win.

Naah, it wasn't that one-sided. They actually out-shot Canucks in both of the last two periods (13-11 and 11-6).

I'm not talking about shots; I'm talking about having the puck. The Wings did a good job of keeping the Canucks away from the prime real estate areas of the ice, but Vancouver definitely carried the play for a very long stretch. The Wings shots were mostly of the 1 on 3 into the goalie's chest variety, too.

That's because you're a Wings fan. In reality he would've probably played a good game just like he's done for a couple of weeks now, minus the Toronto game.

That's because your on Ozzies balls. In reality he has played with a SV% < .900 for the past two years. I think that's a bit more realistic than the couple of weeks (2 games) you mentioned.

Zetterberg was awesome this game. Had Kesler all over him but battled through and scored a beatiful goal to win the game.

In other news, for the first time ever I actually believe that Howard could be a solid backup for us this year. Played great, and controlled his rebounds well. The goal was a fluke deflection that he had no chance on. A+ performance.

Datsyuk was good as usual. Like I mentioned earlier, I think he needs to shoot more, he seems to be thinking pass-first all the time.

Overall a really good team win, especially considering it was the 2nd night of a back to back.

The key thing I took away from that goal was that Howard didn't lose his aggressiveness afterward. He was still coming out of the net to challenge and played the angle game well. I was under the impression his psyche was a bit vulnerable for a goalie but how he reacted after the goal is making me question whether I gave him enough credit.

I guess they got a point there too, as they could've made better use of their many opportunities.

True, but it was about time where the Wings had a game in which they were terribly outshot (for the first two periods) and yet still won. Usually the tables are turned in that situation.

The Canucks board is in flames, saying they're the ones who make backup goalies look like Vezina candidates. That's our job

Am I wrong or what but I cannot find the Canucks board now.. I typed the Canucks forum and some small web sites come up so i cannot find <_<

I agree. There's been a lot of talk how Wings need to grind their wins this season with so many of the last season's scorers gone. Tonight was like that with Howard doing some grinding in the net. The players in front of him even though being tired limited Canucks from getting many good opportunities despite carrying the play.

Agreed. Since the offense won't bail them out of anything as it did last year, defense is especially key, and they've been all over that the past few games (with the exception of Toronto).

Gord Dwyer and Dave Jackson are referees tonight

They were lazy and boy, did they suck. Especially the center line judge.

Ya know, if they want to build integrity with their reffing system, Campbell and the NHL should follow Mickey's (?) advice and have the ref who was closest to the play tell the ref who screwed up that THERE WAS NO CALL.

....jeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzusssssssssssss....

man zetterberg takes so much crosschecking

I truly wish someone had taken HIM on. Isn't he the one who hasn't scored for awhile? The twit should grow up and not take it out on people smaller (and WAY more talented) than him. :ranting:

EDIT:

Gawd, I'm more tired than I thought I was. I was referrring to kessler here....
