Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 Sucked against Montreal and Florida. Didnt hit or forecheck well, he needs to learn that he isnt worth a dame unless he is doing that, we need that lineto provide energy everynight.
Shady Ultima 40 Report post Posted November 22, 2009 I always thought he had potential to be great. Every time I've ever seen him play (on any prior teams) he just looked like he didn't have anyone to click with. Now he has a few, and he's been doing damn well. I hope we keep him out of all our offseason pickups, as he was also the one I was most interested and excited for.

Didnt hit or forecheck well, he needs to learn that he isnt worth a dame unless he is doing that, we need that lineto provide energy everynight. I don't really think of Eaves as a forechecker. To me he's just a seat filler on the 4th line who doesn't do anything particularly well. We'd have been better in the offseason of signing someone like Winchester or Crombeen to fill that same role. At the same time, he doesn't do anything stupid out there, so maybe the Wings are happy just with that. Hence the idea of a seat filler.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Did not play against Dallas. Hopefully he's able to get back in there and bring some of that jump we've seen on most occasions this year.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Yeah slightly injured foot, should be back next game. After a slight down period his previous one or two games had been much better.

Definately. Always good to see him doing well out there, and he really seems to enjoy himself.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Updated for the last 2 games. At some point this season I'd like to see him get a few shifts on one of the top lines just to see if some of his old goal scoring touch is still there. Experiment: Put him with Pavs for a game or two and see what happens.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 6, 2009 Eaves is a real good player, desperately hoping we re-sign him. He's putting up points at a very decent clip, I'd love for him to get a shot with Datsyuk. Guess what? His +8 rating is leading the team, 2 clear of the next best (Lidstrom). Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 6, 2009 Give him more ice time!! This. Also, he should have gone in the shootout rather than Leino.
bdavis 28 Report post Posted December 6, 2009 Also, he should have gone in the shootout rather than Leino. My thoughts exactly! I think I might have actually said this on here somewhere too lol.

While I'm not ready to declare him a success yet, I do think he's done very, very well with the hand he's been dealt this season: ...So Far: 18gp 2g 6a 8pts +8 On Pace: 72gp 8g 24a 32pts +8 That would be tied for his best career pts total in the NHL, but would be behind his two best seasons for goals scored. Still, if Eaves can put 30+ pts up as a 3rd/4th liner I'd say he can be very happy with this season.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 It's all Drapes. If there line stays together and healty, Drapes scores 20 this year. Calling that s***. Eaves has been good as well, that line is great.

b-random 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 Good game, 16:41 of ice time tonight. Agreed. I very happy we signed him, all the "Project Cleary" comparisons are starting to seem very legit. I hope he keeps this up and Ken Holland re-signs him.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) 16:41 ice time, I don't have game by game statistics on me but that would surely be right up there with the most minutes he's played this season. Another strong game tonight. Edited December 7, 2009 by Aussie_Wing
vOrophin 5 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 Liking his play, and the cage is hilarious. Really hoping he sticks around past this season. Also his league-minimum salary is quite nice!
Yellowknife Redwing 57 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 It is imperative that Holland keeps Draper/Helm/Eaves together beyond this season. They are playing amazing hockey at both ends of the rink and given a bit more time could develop into a consistent secondary scoring threat every night.
