Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 That would imply that I'll be back. I want to see Tatar THIS YEAR. Can Kenny get it done?
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 I want to see Tatar THIS YEAR. Can Kenny get it done? I dunno. You'll have to email Kenny and ask. Realistically, they'd want to see Tatar keep this pace up over a few months before they'd reward him. But then again it depends on injuries. If we lose another top 6 forward I'd expect a call up from GR since they're already stretched thin on scorers and the guy getting scratched each game is never a scorer. By the way, you don't have Tomas Holmstrom in you "The Future is Now" picture. Are you trying to get yourself a ban? Fix that so we can continue to discuss the possibility of Tatar being Holmstrom's mentee.
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Not talking about purely numbers. Just overall dominance of their era. Bobby Orr is #1 for instance. I think you mean dominance of the MEDIA.
Carman 387 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 I think you mean dominance of the MEDIA. Agreed. Damn the media for awarding those Hart Trophies...
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Ericsson was definitely ready to be an NHL defenseman last season. His play the previous year in GR and during his call-up the previous year were ample evidence of that. As far as his rookie mistakes go-- he does them no more often than any other rookie d-man. Do you remember how horrifyingly bad Kronwall was defensively for 3 years? No I agree, and I know it was due to cap restraints. My point was that he needed to get acclimated to defense and NA hockey before he was hurried up to the Wings. Why does Tatar need to add on 25 pounds, yet Leino doesn't? Leino gets pushed around like a lawnmower out there, but noone's talking about him needing to add 25 pounds to keep his roster spot. You never mentioned Leino in your post I responded to, which mentioned Tatar and not Leino. Keep the Straw man to yourself. Personally, Leino just needs to practice stick handling in a phone booth like Datsyuk did as a tot and that Filppula has been doing recently to keep from getting skushed. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Agreed. Damn the media for awarding those Hart Trophies... One Hart isn't exactly equal to dominance of his era. I can think of a dude that just won back to back Harts, though. j/k no need for us to start taking shots at each other again. :haha:

Do you really think they'd bring Tatar up over McGrath or Emmerton or Williams or one of the vets? I mean i know he is the most likely to be a top six player instead of a grinder, but we do have some AHL vets that I would call up before Tatar. Even though, I'd rather see Tatar! Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted December 1, 2009 Tatar should be getting minutes with the Wings right now.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 2, 2009 Tatar should be getting minutes with the Wings right now. I think you're getting the Wings confused with the Thrashers. Holland doesn't ruin prospects by pushing them into the NHL before they're ready.

McGrath isn't a top sixer. Emmerton is and he'd get consideration too. Williams is a spare part the signed after the Leafs released him. In my mind a call-up for Tatar would be a case of the Wings dangling a reward in front of a kid who's tearing it up. I'm suggesting they call him up for a brief look. Emmerton's a good choice too-- all depends on who's hotter at the time.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 2, 2009 Bah! Tatar had a couple of dangerous chances and he was part of the play on the PP goal (but wasn't one of the last three to touch the puck). But no points for him tonight. Still he wasn't a minus, which is good considering they lost 6-2. Scoring streaks have to end sometime. Time to start a new one Tatar. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 2, 2009 How did they lose so bad? Kindl a -4? The team played horrible defense on a team and individual level.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 2, 2009 How did they lose so bad? Kindl a -4? Wouldn't read too much into that, Kindl wasn't bad. Mursak is gunning it though, 2-4-6 in the past 6 games.

Well he was no worse defensively than the rest of the team He was great offensively-- he nearly had a second goal on a bullet he rung off the crossbar. You know what his official weight is? Some sites haven't updated his weight in years and some have and I'm not sure which ones are the most current.
r0bert8841 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2009 Mursak and Tatar are going to be stars. Mursak has been taking over as of late while Tatar can finish with the best of them. Axelsson needs to get out of this funk soon and return to star-dom. Anyways some of the posts here are rediculous, people need to get more informed about the Red Wings prospects and the Red Wings philosophies. The Red Wings aren't going to play a prospect until they are NHL ready. Prospects often make rookie mistakes that we can't afford. Also exerience is very underrated over here. You keep the vets until they can't compete in the NHL, which means this is the last season for some. But you can't get rid of every role player, they are called "role" players for a reason, they have important roles that stars can't fill.
