11/28 GDT: Grand Rapids @ Peoria

Grand Rapids Griffins (12-7-0-0) @ Peoria Rivermen (10-8-1-2)
7:00pm CST

Player in Focus: Logan Pyett

Pyett endured a tough rookie season in the AHL and he often found himself as a healthy scratch. This season he has performed a lot better, he's making solid plays from the back-end and he's even displayed a nasty side. The swift skating, puck moving defenceman is in the Meech mould.

Grand Rapids will be hoping to end their two game losing streak when they hit the road to take on the Peoria Rivermen. The Griffins need to shake the habit of getting off to lackluster starts as they have often been trailing early and needing to play catch up. Their offence will bail them out more often than not but lately it has been costing them. Peoria have conceded a massive 72 goals on the season so this game could be a high scoring affair.

Rookie Tomas Tatar is riding a hot wave of form as he is on a 3 game goal streak and has 7 points from his past 4 games. The line which ended the game last night of Tatar-Emmerton-Mursak is likely to be paired again tonight. Defenceman Jakub Kindl is on a 3 game point streak (1-4-5) and is playing the best hockey of his pro career. This is a rematch of the opening game of the season when the Griffins won 3-1 with Dick Axelsson recording a multi point game.

Projected lines:

Rissmiller - Newbury - Pare
Tatar - Emmerton - Mursak
Ritola - McGrath - Williams
Vigilante - Walsh - Tardif

(Axelsson)

Kolosov - Delmore
Janik - Kindl

Individual Leaders:

For some reason, Tatar and Mursak started on a line with Rissmiller. They switched it up a bit thankfully. Tatar is a freak! What a steal!

Is Fraser is thinking that the Tatar-Emmerton-Mursak line is a little too undersized? But you say they went back to it? That's good.

EDIT: Also, what is going on with Dick Axelsson? Should I just give up all hope on him or slap a label on him that says 3rd liner?

Short highlights:

Could've shown the play that led to Kolosov's goal, it was a great individual effort by Mursak. And are my eyes playing tricks on me or should've Mursak got an assist on Tatar's GWG? Janik fires, pucks goes behind, Emmerton centres the puck, Mursak shoots, saved, Tatar jams home the rebound?

Mursak didn't pick up an assist, it read Tatar from Emmerton and Janik.

Excellent, they changed the assists. I looked at the stats and thought to myself they looked different and noticed that Mursak DID assist on Tatar's goal.

Still a bit strange, because it's Tatar from Emmerton and Mursak. I think it should be Mursak the primary, not secondary assist, but just glad he got the point.

Someone else watch the vid and tell me what they think.
