Four straight 50+ wins seasons, 2 straight SCF appearences, one for two, bunch of confrence finals, etc. you get the idea, and then WHAM no playoffs? I dont see it happening, they'll find a way to get it done.
Supposing they do end up missing the playoffs, what will I do? Same thing as most of you, come on here and start posting excuses and other reasons why they are golfing so early.

"Get used to this phrase: how could both referees have missed that?" - Mike Brophy

In order to break news on this website the story must be no older than 2 minutes, if it is older than 2 minutes or on TSN it is on this board already, especially if it deals with the Winged Wheel!
"When I was looking for a captain, I wanted a guy with the Red Wings crest tattooed on his chest," said former Detroit coach Jacques Demers, who named Yzerman captain in 1986. "Steve Yzerman was that guy."

If the Wings don't make the playoffs, after the initial disappointment (which will last about 30 seconds), a big part of me will be relieved. They deserve a nice long summer. f*** the streak.

It happened to the Yankees last year, so you never know.

I'm with you. The guys who have been here for 3 or more years have to be EXHAUSTED. They've played 11 out of 12 possible playoff rounds. Short summers, little time to rest, they can't have a lot left in the tank. I'd be disappointed if they missed the playoffs, but I think it would do more good than harm.

Never. The last thing they need is another bandwagon fan.
"All done? Five bucks." - Pavel Datsyuk after an interview
"Very few cities in the NHL have the history or the following of the Detroit Red Wings." - Steve Yzerman
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence." - George Washington
"Suck my machine gun." - Ted Nugent responding to British pansy Piers Morgan whining for gun control

That would work better if you were talking about the Hawks.
And to answer the thread, I'd go play some golf and ponder what kind of contract Lidstrom will be getting from the Wings.
I love seeing the Wings play in the playoffs, but it's not a necessity for my happiness.

Du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du,
When I see you Red Wings,
I go out of my head,
I just can't get enough,
I just can't get enough,
All the things you do to me and all the things you said,
I just can't get enough.
I just can't get enough
We slip and slide and we fall in love and I just can't seem to get enough of...
Du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du

It's all purely hypothetical of course, as I fully expect the Wings to be comfortably in a playoff spot as the season winds down. Injured players will return, the team will keep playing well enough until then and will get their breaks soon enough.

Amen.
They're certain to win another Cup this year and start a dynasty.
Who's with me?
