nc19 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 well for a Russian speaking person, Detroit isn't exactly the best place to live... NYC, NJ, Miami, LA, Chicago and then maybe Boston, Philly, DC much better fit... for a person who likes life, detroit isnt the best place to live. Even by russian standards, detroit is a miserable city to be in.

dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 I could definitely see personal issues being behind atleast SOME of his struggles. Look at Zetterberg last season, when he had all the contract issues to worry about, and this season. It's not night and day, but it's close to it.
Learn2LuvIt 245 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 I saw and talked with he, Z, and E in Royal Oak two weeks ago. Dats seemed really happy and in great spirits that night. Although "you never know"-I'm not buying this.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 How do people on here know so much about datsyuk's personal life?? kinda kreepy and probably all BS Normally I would agree with you, but with sports, these "private life" stories are mingled in with general interviews conducted by sports reporters. Therefore, even if you're not looking for personal information, you're going to get it reading a review of a game, or a pre-season preview, etc.
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 I wonder what Tiger Woods would think of this thread? Maybe Mrs Datsyuk is the 8th woman in his little black book?

Carman 387 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) Don't like hearing things like this, hopefully it's not true and just speculation. It doesn't seem to be an issue of effort on the ice so I tend to think it's more of a physical issue than anything else. Shady Ultima 40 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 Speaking of knowing too much about ppl's personal lives; the reason why Pronger left Edmonton was because he was cheating on his wife with an early 20 something and she supposedly got pregnant. Progner's wife made him chose between her and paying the girl off or getting a divorce. Part of the deal was that they had to leave Edmonton so they'd never have to deal with the girl again. I had heard a rumour that he had cheated, but I never heard confirmation or anything else, everywhere I heard she was just a ***** who hated the cold. She's from Russia. The cold is irrelevant. If anything, Michigan is a little warmer than where they're from.

Icesurfer 75 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) Ponikarovsky is Ukrainian and his wife, Inna, is also Ukrainian and has dual citizenship..... Ukrainian and Canadian.... she probably can speak and understand Russsian anyway. And Detroit does have a large Ukrainian community.... :colorbounce: Edited December 11, 2009 by Icesurfer
lookalive07 251 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 Why didn't he tell us ? I mean if all Leino needs to be productive is a gf I think we can probably hook him up. LGW's version of E-harmony if you will, we will base our matches off how many points he puts up. Hell he can have an entire harem if he puts up 30 goals. Nah, we need to hook him up first, then he'll start producing points, possibly even children, and then all is right in the hockey world again.

Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 It seems to me that in the face of all these injuries Datsyuk has been trying to do too much and he's becoming less effective because of it. I've caught him trying to make one too many moves on a defensman, or try that impossible pass down low with three guys on him that even Dats can't do. He's even been shooting the puck more, but his aim has been off. I'm guessing the real issue behind his lack of production come from his responsibility as a star player, and trying to carry the team more than he's used to. Who knows, though. None of us talk to him.
goredwings 4 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 I try to never throw personal insults, but this is quite possibly one of the STUPIDEST things I've EVER read! Professionals are still people. Try being married to a woman who HATES where you live, HATES the team you play and is a CONSTANT ***** for days, weeks, YEARS on end. Being a married man, I know, it's ******* horrible. When you know that you're doing what you love, and the woman you love is criticizing every aspect of the place you play... you start to hate everything. If this really is the problem... it could become a very, VERY serious issue for us, especially with the KHL just picking up players from the NHL, even players who already have contracts in the NHL.... Pronger left Edmonton for exactly the same reason, btw. His wife hated the cold so he went to Anaheim... (wonder how she likes Philly...) Side note to this post. Pronger did not leave Edmonton because his Wife hated the cold...She wanted out because he was on route to being Tiger.

Motown4013 350 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 Wow, the level of immaturity shown by multiple posters in this thread is truly staggering. It makes me wonder a) The age of many of the posters here and b) Whether the ones who are old enough to know better have ever actually been in a real relationship with a woman. We don't know that its true, but it would explain a lot. I don't care how much money you earn, you're still human, and if you're having problems with the missus, it DOES affect you at work. Trust me, I've seen it myself far too often. Pavel seems like the kind of quiet "nice-guy" who would internalise all this and carry it around with him, so I can believe it would affect his play [/pseudo psychoanalysis] Great post and I totally agree. Anyone who has been in a serious relationship knows that something wrong on the homefront can really affect your life. It can cause problems at work, within families and every other aspect of your life. Dats is human and I am sure he wants his wife to be happy and still wants to play great hockey in Detroit so he is probably torn (if there is any merit to this story) I am a married woman so I really dont understand how people cant grasp how big of a problem this could be for Pavel. If it is true, I hope things work out and Pav's never has to decide between his wife/ marriage/ family and his career.
