10/09/09 Johan Franzen C Knee IR. Out until at least mid-February

10/02/09 Andreas Lilja D Concussion IR. Out indefinitely

From the top of the list to the bottom:

Latest News:

Daniel Cleary (shoulder) s looking forward to start skating again next week. Cleary separated his shoulder on December 9 when he was hit on a clean check by the Blues' Barret Jackman. Cleary said that he now off pain medication. "Once it gets to the point where it's only a little bit of pain, I'm going to try and skate and get through it," Cleary said. The Red Wings have been hit hard with injuries and Cleary is still likely two-three weeks away from returning to action.

Latest News:

Niklas Kronwall skated with Detroit on Wednesday for the first time since he sustained a sprained MCL in his left knee. Kronwall isn't expected to return to the Red Wings lineup until late December or early January. He has five goals and 13 points in 21 games this season.

Latest News:

Valtteri Filppula (broken wrist) took part in the Red Wings' practice drills on Wednesday. Filppula even attempted some wrist shots during practice. He has been sidelined since October 29th, but he could return to the Red Wings' lineup on December 26th.

Latest News:

Jonathan Ericsson's injured knee is still swollen. Ericsson suffered a deep bone bruise to his left knee on December 14th. He's already had his knee drained once since he sustained the injury, but it's swollen again. "My whole leg from my knee on down to my ankle is pretty swollen right now," Ericsson said. "Because of the swelling, I don't have a lot of motion right now. So you can only try to work to get the swelling down and go from there." Ericsson is expected to be sidelined for at least one more week. Stay tuned.

Latest News:

Jason Williams (broken leg) had his cast removed earlier this week. He will be fitted with a walking cast shortly - he's now on crutches - and will begin intense rehab after about a week of walking around. He hopes to begin light skating by the end of December and is still on target for a mid-January return.

Latest News:

Henrik Zetterberg will be out of the Detroit lineup for the next two weeks with a slight left shoulder separation. Zetterberg was injured on a clean hit by the Lightning's Mattias Ohlund during the first period on Thursday and did not return. The injury could keep him out longer, but figure on two weeks if you own him. The Red Wings play five times in the next 14 days so you may get a bit of a break in the schedule if you own him. Zetterberg is the leading point-getter for the Red Wings with 32 points in 34 games. Reserve him for now.

Latest News:

Johan Franzen was on the ice with the Red Wings on Wednesday for the first time since injuring his knee on October 8th. "I wasn't hoping for a good workout or anything like that," Franzen said. "Want to smell the ice and feel my stick and do all that." This is obviously a step in the right direction, but he's still not expected to return until February at the earliest.

Latest News:

Andreas Lilja (post-concussion syndrome) is still experiencing regular headaches. Lilja hasn't played since February due to post-concussion syndrome and there's still no timetable for his return. "I said to him today, "Lils, how are you doing,'" coach Mike Babcock said. "He said he's great, but he needs a week where he's totally symptom free." We'll keep you posted.

Another update:

Both Zetterberg and Ericsson status have been changed to day-to-day.

Not a major update but we can probably expect them to play soon.

Yay! I knew Z was close, but I was worried about Big E when they said he was "indefinite".

Good news.

Zetterberg close!!

Red Wings' Henrik Zetterberg returns to practice, expects to return near end of upcoming trip

By Ansar Khan

December 30, 2009, 12:40PM

DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg practiced with the team Wednesday for the first time since suffering a separated left shoulder on Dec. 17.

He is aiming to return near the end of the four-game road trip that begins Saturday in Phoenix.

"It's still a ways away. It still gets me when I'm shooting and passing,'' Zetterberg said. "For sure it's getting better. We're shooting for somewhere in the trip, as long as there's no setbacks.''

Defenseman Jonathan Ericsson (bone bruise in knee) skated the last two days by himself, the first time he's been on the ice since getting injured on Dec. 14. Ericsson also said he hopes to return during the trip.

"It felt better than I thought,'' Ericsson said. "I drained (the knee) twice and after the second time the swelling didn't come back like it did before.''

Forward Dan Cleary didn't skate Wednesday. He saw a doctor who determined his recovery from a separated shoulder on Dec. is on schedule. Cleary still is targeting next Tuesday (Anaheim) or Thursday (Los Angeles) for his return.

Forward Patrick Eaves did not practice Wednesday, due to the flu, but he should be ready for Thursday's game against Colorado at Joe Louis Arena.

Assistant general manager Jim Nill said the team did not put in a claim for defenseman Mathieu Schneider, who was waived by Vancouver, because they're going to have to trim players (sending some to Grand Rapids) once the club starts getting healthy.

Here are the lines they skated with:

Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Ritola-Filppula-Miller

Draper-Helm-Maltby

May-Abdelkader-Leino

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Meech-Stuart

Lebda-Janik

Howard (starting)

Osgood

Zetterberg close!!

Ouch, Ken and Mickey said Cleary should be ready for the Coyotes game on January 2nd. I was *hoping* Zetterberg to be ready by the Kings game on Jan. 7th. No word on Williams? I was predicting he would return by the 9th (Sharks) or 12th (Islanders). Probably not.

Grrr, I'm getting antsy. Must.Wing.Games

I feel like there's been very little on Kronwall lately. Weren't they predicting him back late December, and just after Fil? But now there's no word on him. We could definitely use him on the blue line ASAP!

That's not what the announcers said tonight.

They said we'll hopefully get them back towards the end of the road trip.

I'm not sure about Zetterberg, but Cleary (as far as I know) is suppose to be in for the Ducks (if there are no set backs).

when is Kronwall returning? i've seen some that say that he had a delay in recovery (obviously) but is still hoping to return by the 12th, others say that he is out till end of january. what is going on?

He's still not skating so I guess we will see. He will try and skate tomorrow. I assume he will be back closer to the end of January.
