Did we have a legitimate scoring chance that entire period?

No. The Hawks were on the ice the whole period.

It did seem like every time we had the puck, we were either trying to keep it or making passes that didn't connect, or making shots that either get stopped or don't make it to the net in the first place.

Datsyuk and Lidstrom are the best players in our lineup right now.

They're both playing like crap, however. If they looked like they've looked in past seasons, we'd be a much better team this season even with the injuries.

The same for Zetterberg's performance this year.

I doubt lidstrom was even this bad in his rookie season back then he most likely had his legs... how old can one look really? looked like 60years old out there... sad.

Oh my, I hope he's not old AND injured. May just be age.

Age is really starting to show.

Did he age 10 years in one season?

His age didn't look to affect him that much last year in the regular season. He had a worse regular season than usual, but nothing as bad as this.

Agreed. Also, people are insisting injuries are the sole reason why we're sucking yet seem to forget Sweden in which we had a full lineup and we're STILL completely outplayed by St. Louis which is a bottom team now......

Injuries aren't our only problem.

Hawks played much better the 2nd half of the period, but we are still getting owned overall. If not for Niemi (who is looking very good once again, with a good chance to have his FIFTH shutout in TEN games) and Kane's shot we are kind of getting owned out there. Outside of those two and Campbell, everyone looks like complete dogs***.

Both gonchar and markov scored quality goals tonight, lidstrom is supposed to be better than them.. now he's just 1/3 of their skill...

"Nick (Lidstrom) won Cups in '02 and '08. Throughout that entire decade he was the Red Wings' best player. He's one of the top defensemen on both ends of the rink, incredibly skilled. He's a really, intelligent hockey player. Nick is your best player in training camp, in preseason, in the regular season, in the playoffs. I'm not sure what else he could do." - Steve Yzerman

1 goal down, 20 minutes to get it back with 10 regulars out of the lineup

We have played alright, pick it up in the third we have a chance to win this.

GO WINGS!!!!!!!

Perhaps they will activate the godmode third-period-deficit Wings of old and storm out of the gate to take a 4-1 lead after sitting back all night? Fingers crossed. :P

If there is a flu-bug going around the locker-room (the one Raf has), perhaps Lids has a touch of it himself. He's looked noticeably gassed out there tonight.

I'm not seeing this terrible Lidstrom you guys are.. he hasn't looked fantastic by any means, but made some nice defensive plays and been solid.

Probably seeing him not make the plays he's made in the past. Seeing him get flat out beat on a race to the puck by Brouwer etc... And his shot selection/accuracy/velocity is down a lot. That said he is playing well defensively, but Lidstrom is supposed to be great. Not being in the top 50 in points with the PP time he is getting there are no excuses for, he needs to be better.
