Craig Adams hit on Daniel Alfredsson

this hit actually reminded me of Ohlund's hit on Hank

i thought alfredsson leaned in and left himself vulnerable, and thought it was a clean hit. disagree with the announcers.

thoughts?

Adams led a bit high with that and Alfredsson didn't have much of anywhere to go with someone behind him. Reminds me a bit of the Pronger and Holmstrom thing from a couple playoffs prior, but not quite as blatantly dirty. I don't think it was an intentionally dirty play, but it was definitely a high hit that could have perhaps used better judgement.

Good hit. Hope Alfredsson doesn't miss much time.

Are you guys watching the same video? He CLEARLY went for a headshot. Dirty.

Reverse angle at 0:35 from the Pittsburgh feed gives you a good view. I didn't think it was a dirty hit.

It looked questionable from the first angle, but the reverse angel shows it was a good hit, imho. It also looked like Alfie looked at Adams just before touching the puck and reached down a little to try and keep possession. Had he not reached down there's no injury. Too bad. Keep your head up.

Thanks for the Pittsburgh feed. that was the one i was watching on TV. it looked clean all the way to me, then i went to the sens board to get a gauge of their response, and they were all calling bloody murder.

Clean hit.

They should develop some kind of strap that will keep your helmet on. Imagine if they took the necklass that hangs from current helmets but made it shorter\tighter, then it could kind of be a "chin strap" and keep the helmet safely on your head.

He was jsut going for contact it looked like, happened to make head contact, so be it, clean hit, but some pretty lame camera angles from what I have seen. edit: pitt feed confirms my thoughts

Head shots are legal. They are great for the game. Alfreddson needs to keep his head up.

Probably not for long considering the NHLPA has been pushing the league to protect its players from headshots for a few seasons now. And how are they great for the game? Hitting is great for the game. Headshots take out a lot of talented players and potentially end their careers. That's bad for the game.

At first I thought it was an elbow, but the reverse angle it looks like Alfredsson puts himself in a vulnerable position. Maybe could've been two for interference, but that's about it.

Yeah, I don't think one has to say headshots are good for the game to defend clean hits. This was similar to Ohlund on Zetterberg in that Alfredsson was reaching for the puck and incredibly vulnerable. I think he had to have seen him coming as well, at least in his periphery. Clean, but with unfortunate consequences.

Sorry I enjoy seeing hits and would not like to see them diminished in anyway.

I don't think you need to apoligize for that.

I don't think it was an intentional head hit, but intentional head hits are dangerous and I don't think they are good for the game. However, an otherwise clean hit is nothing to be ashamed of. Ohlund's hit on Zetterberg was great, and this one was too, unfortunately both players were injured. Clean hits are always good for the game.

What I like about this hit and the Ohlund hit, as opposed to Brown on Hudler this past spring or I think Mike Richards earlier this season is the hit from the blind side. Ohlund on Zetterberg, Stuart on Umberger, Adams on Alfredsson, were all head on collisions which at least gives the guy a chance to get ready.

Hits like the Mike Richard's hit has always been in the game, Booth was crossing the blue line going into the opponents zone and should of protected himself. I believe if we start enforcing hits like that with suspensions it will diminish the will for the players to take chances and will effect the hits on open ice.
