Oops, I forgot a "t", send me to hell. I lost all credibility on LGWs. :scared:

Guess I shouldn't watch hockey anymore, I forgot a 't'. Please lord have mercy on my soul!

That should teach me to never forget a 't' again... I hope. Don't want to be burned at the stake. /shivers

your "oops" didn't have enough enthusiasm... should have had more vowels to emphasize the point.

like oooooooooooops.

They still award the SO, even though the goalie takes a loss? that doesn't seem right...

Actually, the goalie for the losing team in a shutout most definitely does NOT take a loss to his personal stats. Not sure if this was cleared up, just wanted to point it out for clarity.

EDIT: It appears that it goes down as an OTL (overtime loss) though. Meh, don't really see how that's all that relevant from an individual player point of view. The only reason for a team OTL is to award the extra point after all.

You're thinking of ways to give up a goal, not score a goal. You can't honestly think that rushing both defensemen would help us rather than hurt us, can you? There's really nothing the wings can do right now. We have a bunch of guys who aren't skilled enough to take chances and recover when something goes wrong. We have to stick with our style of play and hope it worls out for us until we get guys back. Yeah, it sucks. Nobody wants to lose games, but right now we can't be taking chances.

I'm just saying try something DIFFERENT. Why keep the losing formula intact? That doesn't make any sense, either.

Like what? Besides rushing all five skaters into the attack and surrendering a breakaway relay on their goalie?

Great players give you lots of options; the Wings have a bunch of no-skill jobbers -- they have no options. There's nothing else to do differently because the players don't have the skill to do anything else.

Exactly. With the product we have on the ice right now, if they can't score on a 4-on-3 and a 5-on-3 and are something like 2 of their last 25 on the PP, there's no special formula that the coach can just try that'll change our system to score more goals. It all comes down on the players to execute, and right now we don't have enough talent to do that. We just have to keep playing the way we are and grind it out until we get more talent back from the IR.

Jimmy definetly deserved a better fate than what he got. Yes I think it should have been a regulation shutout win but I would have been satisfied to take the W in OT but it wasn't we lost and it really frustrates me. I still have all the confidence in the world in Howard he is doing what I hoped he'd do at the start of the season. We should have been able to put that puck in the net with a two-man advantage for over a minute. Our special teams has not been good this season. Power Play has definetly decreased we really need to capitilze on those quality chances. I just hope the Wings can get healthy soon and get better. I still believe this team is a Playoff contending team until I'm proven otherwise. Let's Go Wings!!

No doubt.

Our inability to score with the man advantage (hell - we even had a 5 on 3) is what's killing us...Howard did all he could do; the team in front of him (read forwards) pretty much let him down.

I also feel badly for Jimmy- The guy has totally won me over and played lights out last night ( and many nights as of late) and we couldnt get him the win. I hope every teammate is praising this kid because he has been great!

Go Jimmy and Go Wings!

I'm not going to say he deserved a better fate. He did have a very good game, but still lost. Mason had a better game, therefore Howard doesn't deserve the shut out. I've been happy with Howard though, he is far from a problem right now he's playing great.
