Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=511451&...vid=DL|NHL|home Pretty good looking roster, but Kopecky on this team just makes it too funny for me to take them seriously

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Kopecky's on the team? They're now guaranteed gold.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Haha, the article says that "Tomas Kopecky of the Detroit Red Wings" is on the team. Who knows, maybe he begged and pleaded to be with his, ahem, "friend" Hossa on the team as well. We all know he can't go anywhere without him.
wings1110 184 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 they have a three man team
Yellowknife Redwing 57 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 That roster is nothing to sneeze at. Any time they can ice Chara/Vishnovsky with Hossa/Handzus/Gaborik they could very easily have the most dangerous line in the tournament.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Halak is playing solid hockey, and they have Chara, Hossa and Gaborik. I could see them being a dark horse and making it into the battle for the medals.
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) I always though Anze Kopitar was from Slovakia. Oh, come to think of, he's from Slovenia. Sucks for him that he won't be in the Olympics I guess, even though he's one of the best players in the world right now. Right now? he was on a hot-streak early on but has cooled off alot since... he's far from being "one of the best in the world right now" Edited December 29, 2009 by mindfly
Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 If Kopecky were Canadian, he wouldn't make the 9th string line-up.

I didn't think I'd recognize any other player from Slovenia but lo and behold, Mursak is from there.
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Good roster? It is pretty bad roster imho. I mean if Kopecky makes the team you know that team sucks.

Czechs will get a better team... although the best would be if you guys united your countries again and picked the best from thw current two.. that would be a sick team Never played with the thought of making a roster with the best players from slovakia and czech republic..could someone do it in a few secs? GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Good roster? It is pretty bad roster imho. I mean if Kopecky makes the team you know that team sucks. Well, you didn't think Hossa would travel without his valet, did you? Slovakia figured they'd need a tough guy, for whenever they have to play Canada. Chara probably declined the role, so Kopecky is their official tough guy.
wingnut40 176 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Wow, they must not have had a lot to choose from if Kopy made the team. That's cool that both Marian and Marcel are playing together. Don't see much of Marcel Hossa these days.
RedWings Gone Wild 6 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 they have a three man team Even beyond their top line they have some damn good players, albeit in differing spots in their careers... but Demitra, Meszaros, Satan, Handzus, Visnovsky, Halak, Budaj... all solid players. Also, Palffy was a stud in the NHL... if he still has that offensive ability, this could be a solid squad... I think they got a better offense than the US roster, tho the US has better goaltending/defense for sure..

mmamolo 287 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Kopecky on the team is unny but for anyone who thinks Palffy can't still play may be wrong. Check out his stats: Zigmund Palffy - Hockeydb.com It may only be the Slovak league but those are big numbers none the less.

Don't see much of Marcel Hossa these days. http://www.russianhockeyfans.com/khl/khl-i...-points-86.html Look here. That tells something about Marcel's current shape. I know that scored goals don't tell very much but still... I just hope that Demitra and Satan will regain their condition because they haven't played a single game in this season. I was also surprised by Kopecky in roster....hope a coach knows what he's doing

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted December 29, 2009 Koko is on the roster because "Tomas Kopecky" is easier to type than "any Slovakian male under the age of 80 without serious physical handicap". It's shorthand.
