I'm only a year younger than GMR and UK combined, and I'm still getting used to those pansy helmets.

Take the dadblamed things off and fight.

And pass the Geritol.

do you even know what an analogy is? I never made one. And fighting has been an integral part of hockey since before any of us on here was watching it. For crying out loud, did you just skip the 70's and 80's? Or are you a recent cup bandwagon fan?

Sorry, what's icing again? Wasn't even alive in the 70s, definitely a bandwagoner. I also just joined this forum the very day after the 2008 cup, definitely a bandwagoner. Reading is fundamental, and you're exceptionally brilliant.

You did join the year after the 2002 cup... If you're going to bring your join date into it. 2003 is still after 1999 if you didn't notice.

Yes, my join date is this year, as I was a regular of the official DRW forums, which now suck. I went looking for a replacement and ended up here, though I've been watching since the early 90s.

Did I miss something? I was making fun of that poster's inability to look at a date and compare it to the team's recent cup win, not the June 2002 cup win, which was a year before my join date -- the year I joined these forums was following a disappointing sweep to the Ducks. Why you feel the need to post some possibly-made-up resume (reminds me of ESAD or people who wanna frequently post how long they've been a fan as if that inherently gives them a decent argument) is beyond me, other than maybe to detract from the obvious part of you just joined less than two weeks ago and are the last person to, with any merit, mention join date.

Head? Meet wall. Over and over.

When you joined this board has no bearing on when you "became" a fan. That is why I didn't pay any attention to your join date. And if you are so smart, why were you talking about analogies when I didn't make one? The words "like" or "as" ringing any bells?

I wih I could say you were being to harsh, but I can't. There just isn't another explanation - unless they're idiot, but troll is more charitable. There are some people on this board who seem to so hate Brad May and the role of enforcer that they will resort to arguing against oppinions that nobody holds to slander them. May has done an excelent job in his role - that role being to prevent some cheap shots, make opponents answer for cheapshots that he didn't prevent, and provide energy. Those who say "bu-bu-bu we didn't win the game!!!!" don't have a problem with May, they're just unwilling to call out our goalscorers for their lack of scoring. May has a job, Dats has a job, Lids has a job. One has done a great job at his role this year, the other two have not. Go call them out, not the hard-working stalwart May. May's job is an important one as Babs has noted - but it isn't so important that it alone can win games. The first and 2nd lines need to score.

Very good! You win the Stanley Cup of 2nd grade logic. :champs:

That is why I didn't pay any attention to your join date.

You probably should if the person joined before the recent cup date you assert they became a fan upon. Kinda hard to be a fan since 2008 when I joined in 2003 isn't it, Mr. Brilliant? Also kinda hard not to slip the 70s when I wasn't even born yet. The wall is still there, still waiting to accommodate your logic failure.

And if you are so smart, why were you talking about analogies when I didn't make one? The words "like" or "as" ringing any bells?

Since when are analogies literal? The analogy about things being better of the past is silly and trite. If you actually paid attention "a few years" ago, this forum had a lot more issues with stability and porn/spam bots, not to mention people who would literally tell you to f*** yourself just because of your opinion, even if it was completely idiotic, rather than the nicey-nice making fun of you we do now. But hey, let's turn the clock back. :)

Pardon? Kinda hard to call people out on their goal scoring in a topic that involves the issue of fighting and the supposed logic of what it "prevents". And as it is, I doubt you're the right person to be calling anyone else out when overwhelmingly most of your posts involve fighting/enforcing topics, something that (in the case of fighting) doesn't occur even remotely as often as comparable to how much attention you give it.

That is the frustrating thing about the "bu-bu-bu we didn't win" people.

Winning takes teamwork. Each has his own role to play on the team. If one part of the game fails, the other has to make up for it. If a goalie is faltering, the other players have to push harder defensively. If goals are not being scored, they need to figure out why. If players are being run by thugs, enforcers need to take care of it.

If a team scores 10 goals in a game but lets in 11, the goaltending/defensive play needs to be called into question, not the goal scoring. Everyone gets that. You'd never see anyone pop into a thread on goalies after a game like that and cuss out Zata if he had a hat trick in that game. They'd be calling for the goalie's blood.

Yet if May (or any enforcer) goes out and does his job and plays his role, a few people pop in and wonder why we didn't win as though there was a correlation. Duh, hello? Winning has to do with goals scored compared to goals let in. Simple as that.

If you want stats on fight-to-win ratio, (not counting OT points) it's 50-50. Sure, we didn't win after 2 fights, but Columbus had 2 fights in that game and they did win. See? It works 50% of the time.

It's about as dumb as criticizing the PK after killing a tough 5-3 by complaining that they didn't get a shortie.

And yet, they do it.

I like you because you get it. Babs gets it. A few others on this board get it.....but some boys you just can't reach.

<sigh>
