Carman 387 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Really liked the picks. Good roleplayers, face off men, shot blocking defenseman, and young. Good picks Stevie, good picks.
WMUCarGuy 8 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Strongest team by far on paper, but with so many superstars, does anyone think they might have trouble gelling and playing well as a team?
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Wow, no Phaneuf. He must be having a s***ty season or Yzerman just doesn't like guys who go for "sloppy seconds" Also a little surprised not to see Lecavalier, St. Louis or Stamkos on the team. I figured one of those guys from Tampa would make it. Also, Draper should pull a Mikael Samuelsson. Edited December 30, 2009 by GMRwings1983
Carman 387 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Strongest team by far on paper, but with so many superstars, does anyone think they might have trouble gelling and playing well as a team? Always the challenge, but with great leaders like Sidney Crosby in the locker room it shouldn't be a huge issue.

Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Strongest team by far on paper, but with so many superstars, does anyone think they might have trouble gelling and playing well as a team? No. The Sharks line have awesome chemistry. Getzlaf and that ***** Perry are great together. Crosby can play with anyone. On defense, Chicago first pairing = proven chemistry, Pronger - Niedermayer = another well proven pair Canada has the best team only Russia is even a threat. FinWing 26 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Strongest team by far on paper, but with so many superstars, does anyone think they might have trouble gelling and playing well as a team? I'm sure Stevie has tried his best to take that into account as well. Edited December 30, 2009 by FinWing
Motown4013 350 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 glad to see that Bergeron made it. kind of surprised that Doan didn't They have enough leadership...I didnt anticipate Doan at all- Bergeron was a bit of a surprise as was the lack of Stamkos but I am glad Richards made it. Octopus's Garden 147 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 I hate just about everyone on this team. Shouldn't be too hard to root against -- Babs and Stevie Y. loyalties aside.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Love the team, had to know that chemistry was invovled. Very glad to see no Calgary Flames defenceman are heading to Vancouver , didnt really think Toews deserved to make the team, but not surprising seeing it was Yzerman picking who loves Toews. GSBrooks13 204 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Only thing that really surprised me was Morrow.. I could have seen any of Stamkos, Doan, St. Louis or Carter in his spot.. but I cant see many faults with this team.. Gonna be fun to see if Babcock can get all of these guys to play a Red Wings style system.. if he can I dont see anyone that can stop Team Canada.
Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Love this team, the only guy who I'm not sure whether I like would be Bergeron. There were just so many good players to choose from. Also to not having the leading point scoring D-man on this team (Mike Green)
MCFreshWes 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 This team is loaded with Western Conference players. I wonder if that's because Stevie and Babcock are more familiar with them.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 This team is loaded with Western Conference players. I wonder if that's because Stevie and Babcock are more familiar with them. The other good thing about that, for DRW purposes, is Babcock will know what makes the stars of the Western Conference tick come playoff time But for now, I just want that gold medal
mjlegend 155 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Heh heh. The rest of the west will also be dog-tired come playoff time. Especially Chicago.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Surely the best team in the tournament. Lots of built-in chemistry, tons of talent, and a few guys that can fill roles other than just superstar scorer. It will be very disappointing if they don't medal again. Redline 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Niedermayer Captian, Crosby, Iginla, Pronger A's , Stevie, WTF?
mjlegend 155 Report post Posted December 30, 2009 Niedermayer Captian, Crosby, Iginla, Pronger A's , Stevie, WTF? He couldn't name himself captain. Or Luongo, since he'll ikely be the #3... Of the players on the team, these are decent choices IMO. As long as Sir Sid doesn't have the C, I'm ok with whatever Steve thought was a good idea.
