Patrik Elias 'has all his faculties' after scary hit to chin and will travel home with NJ Devils

By Rich Chere/The Star-Ledger

The Devils received some good news when it was learned forward Patrik Elias was apparently not seriously hurt on a hit from Colorado's Ryan Wilson Saturday afternoon.

Elias, who took a hard shoulder hit to his chin from Wilson as he skated near the blue line in front of the Devils' bench 38 seconds into the second period at the Pepsi Center, was removed from the ice on a stretcher. He did not appear to be conscious after the hit snapped his head back.

However, an update from Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said Elias was back in the visitors' dressing room and had "all his faculties." He will travel back to New Jersey with the Devils after the game and will be re-evaluate by doctors on Sunday.

I watched the game, and it was a clean hit.

It happened in the 2nt period, and by the 3rd the announcers were saying he was back in the locker room and didn't have to go to the hospital. So nothing to serious.
