Why is nobody mad at May?

This isn't about goon/antigoon, I'm just pissed that Brad May isn't doing his job before coming to the wings a cheap shotting piece of s*** now he doesn't even do a damn thing. I am happy that he isn't doing that to a ton of undeserved players, but how the f*** does he let Steve Ott skate around on the ice like that? I don't give a s*** if he fights him, or cheap shots and ends that motherf***ers career (probably 1 of 2 I actually would wish that on). No instead he will just fight another goon over absolutely nothing, what the f*** happened to having an actual enforcer who did his job. I don't give a s*** if they are fighters/nonfighters if someone cheap shots your players and you're a goon you f*** them up, be it fighting or other means.

Well, I dont think there is any way at any point in any game Ott would ever man up to fight May.. Which means May might have to literally just grab ahold of him an dthrash him around some.. I might agree more with you if it wasnt a close game, but no way that game even makes it to overtime if May goes out, runs Ott's head through the boards and gets a 5 minute major.. Then they score on the PP, its a 3-2 game and we dont have to worry about the refs screwing us over..

see I think it would be a good trade off, the wings got to focused on Otts buls*** which took away from the game plan. If may just injuried his sorry ass or showed him early he won't tolerate his buls*** it would be worth the 5 min or suspension of May

There is no way Ott is ever going to fight May.

We should be mad at Bertuzzi, it looked like Ott wanted to go with him, but nothing ever came of it. When is Bert going to scrap? He should have stepped up today, and gone for the Gordie Howe hat trick.

That's my point, a real enforcer wouldn't give him an option. Yes I am aware this is the cause of Steve Moore, but it is also this is the cause of D Mac beating the s*** out of Pepe. May should have f***ed him up, legal or not Ott was trying to take it to an injury level not just playing hockey. Maybe I just hate Ott as a hockey player though.

How ironic that the ****** bag was given the game winning goal in the shootout (notice given). I was waiting for May to have a go at him all game long :(

Wow, I just noticed my join date was May 24th lol.

I specifically remember Bert shakin' his gloves early in the game with Ott. That's when everyone thought there was going to be a call on Ott and there wasn't. Bert ain't f***in' scared of Ott.

esteef

I wasn't aware of that, I just saw Ott and Bert chirping each other for a while.

Maybe you're right. You should right Babs a letter explaining how May forcing Ott into a fight and taking a 2-5-10 package would have been good for the Wings in an almost-must-win game.

Also explain how you think that it is in any player's, team's or league's best interest to run around trying to intentionally injure someone as you suggest.

Ott didn't hurt any of our guys and has shown willingness to fight all but heaveyweight enforcers. He looked like he would have fought Bert, he likely would have gone with Bert, Ericsson, Abs, Homer, Maltby, Cleary or any other Wing.....but you're upset because the only Wing who wouldn't have been able to get Ott to consent to a fight....didn't?

The instigator rule has had a very large effect on this part of the game. 15 years ago, May would have fed Ott some punches, they both would have had matching 5s and the game would have gone on. Today May would get the package, Ott would have virtually guaranteed his team at least one goal, and May would have been the goat.

There was a breakdown in the system last night. May was unable to either prevent Ott from being a dick or punnisg Ott for being a dick. That sucks and it's a valid point to discuss -but it is merely one example of a guy not being able to do his job in one situation, not unlike that shot that Dats fanned on durring the game. Furthermore, if you want to discuss Ott's actions durring the game - discuss those of the rest of our players who let a 6', sub 200lb guy goon it up against them.

Ott is a smart player and he played an awesome game, props to him.

ummm...first of all it isnt always his choice whether to drop the gloves or not. heres how the conversation went with him and babs

Babs: hey i just want you to go out and work hard and try and get a goal, dont worry about fighting because we dont want to give them momentum, insted just finish all your checks

May: ok Babs

No way Ott is going to fight May straight up. Not to mention May wasn't on the ice much at all verse Ott so he didn't have a chance to try and get Ott with his own game.

That said I do think May should of got in a fight with someone towards the end of the game. Momenteum was shifting and we could of used a break/boost from him.

I'm not mad at May because he plays a role that serves a purpose on the team, that while important, isn't of utmost importance to do every single game in order to help the Wings win. May doing his job, or lackthereof according to you, wasn't a big reason why the Wings lost.

May's been fine.

Ott's game is to draw penalties. Sending May to get the instigator package would have done just that. In such a close game, that would be madness.

Madness?

Yeah, that was lame but I really can't take that word seriously at all anymore.

I'm not condoning hurting Ott, but first off, he left his feet with elbows up on a hit from behind on Stuart. Luckily he mostly missed. He is also the second guy in on several hits that game. Sometimes they're a little late, but not illegal. He's definitely out there trying to hurt people.

And you know who really tried to get to go in this game? Brad friggin Stuart.

Ott is a spot picking douchebag and a dirty player. May should've at least put him in the situation where Ott had to chicken out of a fight.

To be honest, I'm more pissed at the officials, and not just because of the shootout bulls***.

They know what Ott is doing, what type of player he is, and they can clearly see that he is running people, often illegally. They ignored it. They also ignored several high sticks, and Barch's goalie interference.

Sorry, but I don't blame the Wings for yesterday's result. They might have done a better job helping themselves, but they were failed by the minimum requirements from the officials. They got shafted by the refs whatever way you look at it.

I kinda agree about May not fighting though. Even if it was another fight against Barch early in the third, it would at least be something.

Perhaps May would be even more wary of being stuck in the penalty box with Ott free to do whatever he liked - but that's what the whole game was like so I don't put much credence to that theory.

Ultimately, it looked like the refs were under instructions to help Dallas yesterday. I'm not a conspiracy nut, but it genuinely looked that way.

Whatever, it sucked.

I posted something like this in the GDT. All of Ott's bulls*** started from the OUTSET of the game. It's not like it was a tie game and then he started. People who are bitching about a 2, 5 and 10... not if it went down right. I'd take the May for Ott trade off any day. Pull his annoying ass off the ice for 5 minutes and it'd only help, especially since the 4th line wasn't seeing much ice anyway.

All I can think of is the idea that Downey would have throttled him. May is so ******* focused on upping his fight count with Kris Barch, and taking offensive zone fights. His fights are pointless.

Ott has been doing his thing in this league for what, 6 years? 7? No fighters with May's rep have ever goaded Ott into agreeing to a fight yet, please explain how you think the deal would have "went down right" and May not recieved a 2-5-10? May's only course of action would have been to grab Ott and start punching - something Eric Carins, Jody Shelley and Chris Neil did in the past - but not in close games that mattered.

If your opponent doesn't treat you with class why should you treat him with any. May didn't say s*** to him all night even (at least while on TV), I would have at the very least would have hoped May sent him a message maybe even start doing the same s*** to his team (they play that piece of s***, so they are just as guilty) I would like to think if we at least had Downey he would have given him some stern words, or an angry jesture. I mean all I'm asking for is an enforcer to do his job. He did the exact opposite of keeping the flies off.
