yeah well see how good he is once he faces a team in the west.
He appears to be battling harder. Maybe he finally shed his lazy ways (yes, at this point I'm using the word lazy strictly to annoy FinnishWing). I'm still reserving judgment until next season.

Wow... it`s almost like the retarded knee-jerk reactions people like to make about rookies on LGW aren`t rooted in reality. Hmm... I guess talent doesn`t evaporate when you fail to put it to use in your first season.
Talent only matters when you play hard.
He never played this hard for the Wings. Don't know if it's the playoff atmosphere that's woken him up, but he was sleepwalking most of his time in our lineup.
You really think a "genius" like Holland/Babcock would let him go so easily if they didn't think he was a lazy ass?

I'm still under the belief that we had to force him into a position he wasn't ready for (due to all our injuries). I don't think he was able to perform under pressure. When he went to Philly, there was no pressure on him, and he's performing. It's not unheard of that a guy underachieves for one team but shows his potential for another.
He's the one that demanded a one way contract. He made his own bed.

Holland is the one who decided to give it to him plus get Williams. Insted, maybe he should've gone after Hudler etc. He's the one that demanded a one way contract. He made his own bed.
Is it Cambell's fault that he's overpaid? Or the GM's?

I agree with you man-- but we both know how thoroughly he was slagged off on here. It wasn`t people saying `he`d be a good NHL player if he battled more` it was people calling him a flop who isn`t good enough to play in the NHL.
I completely understand why Holland ditched him but the rhetoric we heard about Leino was absurd. And I enjoy pointing that out since I supported him the whole time. Don`t worry-- I`m not going to harp on it every day like the Quincey slappies did because I understand and accept the situation that lead to him leaving. Plus he`s 26 and Holland turned him into a 4th round draft pick who will be 18 this summer. I`m cool with that switch given how the Wings draft.

I don't agree with your assessment that everyone here just claimed that he was awful. I never got that impression. Everyone seemed to agree that he had a lot of talent, he just wasn't making effective use of the extra ice time he could have seen. He had a golden opportunity to make a name for himself here, but for whatever reason, couldn't/wouldn't/didn't. How is that not frustrating when you had such high hopes for a player?
