What do you think? Most people talk about the Canadian and Russian team.

Loui Eriksson-Backstrom-Alfredsson

Sedin-Sedin-Weinhandl (leader of KHL scoring)

Forsberg(if healthy)-Zetterberg-Hornqvist

Holmstrom-Pahlsson-Modin (ugh)

Lidstrom-Kronwall

Enstrom-Oduya

Ohlund-Murray

Tallinder

Lundqvist

Gustavsson

pretty solid - I think Russia is the biggest threat this year, but Sweden should not be overlooked...

If I had it my way

G: USA

S: Canada

B: Sweden

what I think is going to happen:

G: Russia

S: Canada

B: USA

possibly, but i dont see USA better than Sweden on paper.

I don't see Canada losing a gold medal game at home, esp to Russia. A bronze medal on the other hand...

Sweden for the bronze over US or the Slovaks. I don't think I'm horribly out of line predicting a Can-Rus gold medal game., with Canada winning.

Personally, I think that team is as deep as any in the Olympics. No surprise though, cause Sweden is always pretty deep. The only real surprise is that Hornqvist is playing lights out in the NHL.

we could even been better with franzen...too bad about his injury

I agree... but I think Ryan Miller is the wild card along with the US defense in the whole formula...

Wow, really? I'm actually not too impressed with the U.S. defense. Our forwards and goaltending look very promising. But IMO our D looks mediocre at best. But who knows, maybe they'll gell together nicely. But on paper, Canada, Sweden and Russia all have a much more impressive defensive core.

Really?

Erik Johnson / Brian Rafalski

Brooks Orpik / Mike Komisarek

Paul Martin / Ryan Sutter

Jack Johnson

that doesn't look solid to you?

I see a great balance of speed, offense, defense, physicality and hockey smarts...

I do agree that on paper the US is not better than all those teams, but as Ryan Miller has proven all year in Buffalo, he can steal a game and I think he will do that on more than one occasion in the Olympics...

is erik johnson already the nr1 defenseman for the US? Also Komisarek probably shouldnt be on the team.

I definitely don't think you're out of line at all and I hope I'm wrong, but I think there is going to be an upset for Canada at home... that Russian team looks scary...

that might not actually be the pairs, but with the way they've played all year and their strengths/weaknesses, that's what I'm predicting...

Forsberg-Backstrom-Holmstrom

Sedin-Sedin-Loui Eriksson

Weinhandl-Zetterberg-Alfredsson

Hornqvist-Pahlsson-Modin

Lidstrom-Kronwall

Enstrom-Murray

Ohlund-Oduya

Tallinder

Lundqvist

Gustavsson

I think something like this is better. Maybe any Sedin line should be number one right now.. Either way, I think this team can compete with any in this competition. The Russian team is overrated imho. If you can hold out against them for a period or so, or score first, they usually fall apart. I also think Lundqvist can be as good as any goaltender in the tournament. He carries the Rangers, ar far as that is possible when Gaborik doesn't show up, and apart for the past game or so has had a ridiculous GAA/% the past 15-20 games considering the team in front of him. He's better now than last time. Before TO, I would have said that the Monster is a fantastic backup, however, at this point depth in goal is my sole worry.

With the new rules not allowing injured players to be replaced during the Games, I really think the decision to actually put Forsberg on that list should be very carefully contemplated. They have a roster of 23 players and with Forsberg named, it's more than a real possibility that will drop to 22 at some stage of the tournament. If one or two more players go down they can pretty much say good night.

I know Peter Forsberg is a great player and Swedes think he's God, but unless he's able to display consistent, continued durability in the lead-up to the Games, it could prove to be a very costly mistake to name him to the team.

Just my 2c with regards to Team Sweden.

Strong Swed D. But IN ALL HONESTY, if Franzen was on the team, I would favor them to win Silver or Gold. Also Lundqvist and Gustavsson have been both playing pretty badly lately. But Lundqvist can be a shut down goalie, maybe this will get him revived?

I like Canada's chances if Brodeur is playing, but if he falters, I bet they'll stick with him no matter what. And Luongo can melt down in high pressure games. I don't think Canada are locks to win Gold like many people do. Miller could be a factor in getting USA the bronze.

My predictions:

Russia

Canada

Sweden

Forsberg has in fact been playing fairly consistently. He was out most recently as a precaution, and more importantly it was nothing pertaining to his foot. Despite his injuries he's been playing at well over a ppg this season. I saw him play the other night against Frölunda, and he looked good. At times, very very good. However, the really important thing here is that Foppa really wants to play for his third Gold Medal, it's only eight or so games (he played six in the last Olympics) and playoff Foppa plays until he dies. As the Olympics is only a few games, I'll gladly take my chances with him. Especially since he doesn't have to center a line. He could be used as a pp specialist for all we know.
