Can the Wings Break out of this slump?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

After tonights game I am getting so sick and tired of watching the Red Wings play the way they have been. It made me sick to see the effort they put up in the power play that they had in overtime. I have lost all confidence in this red wings team and it is sickening. In my mind right now I really don't think the Red Wings can win a game in regulation. Not only that I live in Cali and now have to listen to Sharks fans who know nothing about hockey talk S%&^ to me. I know the wings have had a ton of injury issues but that is no excuse to keep losing especially to teams like the Blues. I really think this is the year the wings don't make the playoffs and until today I really never thought I would think that. Do you guys think the Wings still have a legitimate chance of grabbing one of those bottom seeds and sneaking in? What do the wings have to do differently (besides not being so lazy and sloppy at times) to pick up some more wins? I hope the Olympics riddle other teams with injuries and if the wings stay healthy there is still hope.

:ranting:

agreed. even if the team is just starting to come alive over the last two games, the olympic break won't help them get the momentum going. i'd like to see our forward lines stay very close to the same they are now. that eaves helm draper line is dynamite, and our first two look very good with franzen back. the other line with williams is just a mish-mash of players with different styles. what is williams going to do with miller and maltby or whoever.

I just want to see our team looking like itself by the end of the season; if we make the playoffs, awesome. if we don't, at least we are still the detroit red wings playing like we used to.

Detroit can absoluetly break out of this slump. There is still over 20 games left in the season. There is lots of time to get things going. The Wings still control their own destiny.

Yes. I just don't know when. There are times during games when it looks like we have our s*** together and are getting something going and then 30 seconds later it all falls to hell.

I'm hoping the Olympic break will provide the guys with a much-needed breather and opportunity to re-assess where they're all at.

I can't stand these SO losses

Jimmy needs to do 3 things:

Be Patient

Learn the 2-pad stack

Keep in mind the space between him, shooter, and net while backing up for a save attempt.

It's just hockey. We all love the Wings no doubt, but you shouldn't get that worked up about it.

Ha i know im messing around i get worked up but nothing to serious.... Im just a detroit sports fanatic and at this point with all other teams failing us detroit fans the wings are the only reliable team we have and thats one reason I love the wings sooooo much they play hard and this team just doesnt seem to have it. It just scares me cuz if the wings arent playing up to par what else in detroit to we have to cheer for .... the lions? hahahaha

I have to wonder, do we ever have these guys practice for the shoot out? Do other teams?

On topic, after the Olympics will be the real test and indicator for all of us fans. Will they come out with a whole new attitude and focus and play like Red Wings or, will they keep up this whatever this has been.

No panic here, but I really do think Kenny needs to shake things up a bit. The only reason he wouldn't at this point is because they are willing to ride out this season and have a lot more wiggle room in 2010-2011.

Honestly, I wonder if this whole season can be considered a slump. They have looked like a beaten, broken down team since the last couple games of the SCF against the Pens last year. They play uninspired, sloppy hockey. I think they play hard and give a great effort, but let's be really clear here, if Howard wasn't making some of the saves he's made this year, we may be right in line for a top 5 pick in the draft this year.

The big question now becomes, what can Kenny pull off? Or do they want to pull anything off at all?

I to am a die hard fan! when the wings lose i don't even wanna speak or be spoken to. as much as i would love to see the wings make the playoffs with the way they are playing now I don't see them going far anyways. So maybe it is a good thing if we don't make, sure we are going to have to put up with the s*** talking but maybe the wings will wake up next season and realize its not like the years before we actually have to work hard for the 60 min to get a win not just the first 10 and last 10. I don't know its depressing to see the wings dominate for so long and make it to the cup back to back seasons and then this.

The Wings are only 1 point out, and Calgary has played one more game than us. It is not as desperate of a situationas it seems...yet. I say that after the olympic break the clutch that we've all been waiting for will finally kick in, and we'll steal the 7-8 spot.

When was the last time we won in regulation? And how about before that?? Looking ahead at our schdeule we are playing mostly playoff bound teams the rest of the way out. Not good for us. This Olympic break is actually good for us. Take it none of our players get injured but that wouldn't be new now would it.
