I don't know why people have a hard on for Kozlov? 38 years old?? Remember how OLD we were in the playoffs? And for his price tag I just don't get it, why not trade flip and a Dman or two...to be honest I've always liked his Finnish counter part hagman? Or maybe keep Flip around and have the Finnish Twins!! I like that one.

That latest trades pretty much signifies Huet is being shipped out asap.

So the Hawks are going to go into the playoffs with Niemi and Toivinin? Wow, that'd be ballsy.

I do think the Hawks may find a trading partner for Huet though. In a similar move that saw Giguere go to Toronto or Barker to Minnesota and Johnsson back to the Hawks. No doubt Chicago is trying to shift players in and players out for pending UFAs so they can remain contenders now but have cap felxibility this summer while maintaining their core

There are pests like Maltby, and then there are classless pests like Ott and Avery. I'd rather not ever see the latter on this team.

Avery already was on this team, and Maltby isn't much of a pest anymore - I haven't noticed him taking anyone off their game lately.

Niemi has been good in the regular season, but it remains to be seen how he'd fare in the playoffs. My bet is not so good. The playoffs are a whole new season.

Yeah I would tend to agree. I can understand why they'd want to move Huet - obvioulsy - but to with their attitude that this year is their best shot why go into the playoffs with Niemi and Toivinin. It jsut doesn't make sense to me. I can't imagine that's the plan.

I think a plan that makes more sense would be to move Huet and get someone like Turco - someone with some playoff experience to even serve as the backup to Niemi or possibly even the starter who knows- who'll become a UFA this summer. To me that makes a hell of a lot more sense. You get a quality guy now and cap flexibility this summer.

Chicago is going for it this year. They will be good for the foreseeable future, but they won't be this good ever again. The funny thing is, most of their fans still scoff at the fact that their entire team won't be intact after this season.

Yeah I definitely agree with that.

The Johnsson/Barker trade is a perfect example of what we're talking about. That trade was a lateral move for the present. It keeps them very competitive today but gives them flexibility this summer because Johnsson will walk and that'll give the Hawks some cap space. Plus the Hawks gave up a prospect in that deal.

That deal instantly made their blueline weaker going into next season. Plain and simple.

We're on the same page when it comes to the Hawks. Their core is in tact and they'll be a good team for the foreseeable future but this is their year - it's make or break time

Yeah, it sounds like their offseason is going to be a lot like the one that the Wings had last year. Their core will still be together, but a lot of their depth will go out the window.

Ya absolutely. There's just no way to retain everyone. It's a product of the cap world. As you know it's why we had to replace Hossa, Samuelsson, Hudler, and Kopecky with Bertuzzi, Williams, Eaves, and Miller.

Hmm, sounds familiar. Must be a Hossa thing.

You guys know what "boo" in Slovakian means, right?
