They can have him. There's enough overpaid,under-performing assholes in this league.Let them all go to Russia.

why do they insist on stealing all the NHL's talent?

I don't understand posts like this. What makes him NHL's talent aside from him previously having a contract with an NHL team? I see him as Russian talent, not NHL talent. He grew up playing hockey in Russia, that's where he learned the game. If anything, they could be saying exactly what you said about the NHL stealing their talent.

It would suck to see such a talented player leave, but I wouldn't think anything less of the guy for going to play for a professional league in his native country.

Quick question. Can't KHL draft players or sign kids?

Better the khl than a team in the west conf that plays the Wings 4 to 6 times a year.

John Anderson was on some sports show a few weeks back and he said he has heard Kovy is going to the KHL on like a 2-3yr contract at like 10-15mill....and then come back to the NHL and will not want as much money when he does come back and will only be 30yrs old

I think the KHL will ****** a decent amount of current NHLers this summer.A guy that comes to mind is Slava Kozlov. He probably wouldn't mind finishing his career in his native land.

Frolov is another player the KHL is targeting but I believe Kovalchuk said he wants to stay in the NHL and win a cup.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=322799

Only time will tell.

As for the KHL having a lower tax and offering all this $. I say go right ahead if they can actually sustain it. You have Lada Togliatti droping out cause they couldn't meat financial requirements from what I read and you also have teams merging in HC MVD and Dynamo Moscow.... so how healthy is that league? Granted 2 new teams were added as well apparently for next season.

Oh and the Stanley Cup is way better than the Gagarin Cup.

Doesn't Jagr make like $10M? Kovie could probably demand upwards to twice that if the rules allow it. He can get a long $10M per year contract in the NHL - more taxes though I suppose.

I still think he will stay in the NHL... say what you want about the guy, but he's a competitor and wants to seems to want to win at the highest level

All I have to say about Holland and our off-season:

Because there are other players out there like Cory Cross.

That is the biggest insult you could ever give to Cory Cross to put him in the same category as Matt Cooke.

If they throw enough money at him,we won't see him in an NHL jersey ever again.

Good point.I was really excited that I wouldn't have to deal with Hudler after last year but the Dynamo fold and, yippie he's back.
