Way to be completely dominated in the first period of a game they absolutely need to at least show well in.

Gutless ******* wonders, all of them.

And when will they finally figure out that they win when they go to the net? This perimeter-only/zero angle offense never ******* works.

First goal, bad luck, seocnd goal, what the hell was Filpula thinking?

Win a game, look great, get the doors blown off the next game, win a game look great, lose again, wtf is wrong with this team? The loss of the 3 players last year should not have destroyed this team. COME ON. Get it together guys. They are skating decent and getting the puck low, just nothing to show for it yet.

But to me, Chicago does look like we used to look. They have it going on.

well they got chances... but they also got unlucky bounces and one very bad turnover... That Zetterberg line is looking weak as well

Why can't you just say it? Howard with some awful rebound control and Lebda overskating the puck with a Filpulla turnover.

Their goalie is making saves, ours isn't.

Pretty simple stuff.

Yup.

I don't think Chicago necessarily played all that much better than the Wings.

We had a more consistent attack (but nobody on this team can finish).

We did have some pretty bad turnovers, but Chicago did as well.

The difference to me has been Howard's terrible rebounds.

The first goal was 100% a result of his inability to direct rebounds into the corner, it went right back into play (like it always does) and they capitalized.

Can't blame him on the second goal.

But there have been plenty of times in the first where Chicago gets more of an opportunity to do something because the first shot is kicked right back into the slot by Howard.

He has played well this season, but rebound control is horrible by him, and most of his bad games are where teams capitalize on that.

somethings gotta changed with the defense.

f*** whoever is blaming howard. first goal def went off of raffy unstoppable and fippula couldnt have made a better pass to ladd.

pick it up boys

Howard isn't being blamed for the shots that went in.

He is being blamed for rebounding the puck directly to Hawks players. Consistently.

Getting the puck low is great, unless you aren't getting anything in front of the net.

If Holmstrom and sometimes Franzen (when he isn't skating along the boards like the rest of the forwards on this team) aren't on the ice, no one is in front of the net.

Bertuzzi would try to bull his way to the net too one time. Instead he let himself get pushed off to the size which resulted in yet again another zero angle shot with no one in front to deflect or distract.

OMG 1st one was deflected (Rafalski)... Rafalski needs to block or to stay away from that shot it's very easy...

Yeah because its Rafalski's fault/bad luck that Howard kicked a rebound right out into the slot, and Keith ripped it the second it settled on his stick...

No that is not bad luck or Rafalski's tip. That goal was a direct result of Jimmy Howard's complete inability to control a single shot that doesn't wind up in his glove.

Its either a glove save he holds on to or a rebound that is a scoring opportunity. Between the 4 games since the season started up again we have gotten what I feared from Howard all along. Terrible inconsitency. Great in the Nashville and Colorado games. Terrible versus Vancouver, and now again today. He needs to get back that consistent play he had before the break.

Doesn't change the fact Howard has been giving the Hawks some juicy rebounds to keep pressure in the Wings zone. One of which turned into a goal.

Yes it was deflected by Rafalski, but Howard kicked the puck right out into the slot off the shot. If he had kicked that puck into the corner, the play never would have been possible.

Pierre Mcguire said halfway through the period "Howard needs to move the rebounds to the corner. he is kicking them out into the slot which puts way too much pressure on the defense."

Pierre McGuire is 100% correct...

THANK YOU!

Howard is one of the people that whenever he f***s up this board blames it on somebody else. Howard has been great this season. But the rebounds have been terrible all year. And they have been extra bad today.

OK. But never let me hear you say that again!

Its a rarity...Normally he says nothing worth listening too, but every so often the blind squirrel finds a nut.

He is a moron but he knows hockey well. The few times he gets his head out of his butt he can make a decent point...it is usually about one a game.

This.

It's starting to look like the Olympic break was the worst thing for Howie.

I know many don't think Bert is a top 6 forward, but I would just like Babs to try these two lines just to see if the chemistry would be better than it is now (to see if it would be like it was before the injured came back):

Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary
