shaeb30 10 Report post Posted March 11, 2010 The Griffins had to release their roster for the rest of the season today for Clear Day. There was a surprise on that release... why would they put Darren Helm on their roster for the rest of the year? I would think they would use that last spot for Ryan Oulahen, who is about a week away from return from a dislocated hip that has kept him out for an entire year. Does this mean nobody can play except for those on the Clear Day roster? http://www.mlive.com/griffins/index.ssf/2010/03/darren_helm_on_griffins_clear.html
GROwl 5 Report post Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) Clear Day rosters are intended to prevent NHL clubs who won't make the play offs from stuffing the AHL with their players. Therefore, there are a number of exceptions. Junior players who have finished their season can play in both AHL regular season and play off games. Call-ups from lower leagues can also occur in injury situations. Players from European leagues can in some circumstances play too when their season is over similar to juniors. Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted March 21, 2010 With Rissmiller now out for the season, are GR planning on calling up one of the Wings prospects for a few games or are all the Wings prospects teams in their playoffs? Would like to see Ferraro play some games in GR to see where he's at.

They can't be "called up" earlier than that. If the Griffins need more forwards due to either injuries or being called up to the Red Wings before the juniors are done with their seasons, the Griffins can get them from the ECHL or IHL and still meet the Clear Day rules.
