The Richards hit on Booth, the Gonchar on Clutterbuck and the Cooke on Savard were all blindside hits that could have killed someone or at least ended their careers. Not one of them goes punished yet when Wiz hits Seabrook, who was facing him and saw it coming, he gets 8 games? This s*** is ridiculous... I'm no ducks fan but lets be real here - this was the least dirty of all four hits I've mentioned and as far as I'm concerned Seabrook had it coming after throwing that questionable hit on Perry, and that means a lot coming from me because I hate Corey Perry. I cant believe that Gonchar hit when unpunished, and someone mentioned the Torres hit on Helm in buffalo the other night that went unpunished as well. Had it been sid it would have been 0 games for sid 8 games for whoever he hit. PS What the hell? I thought 2 games, 3 at most, 8 is insane given some of the hits that have recently gone undisciplined by the NHL. These are the following tips you need to be aware of if you're thinking of dangerously clobbering a Hawks blueliner. 1) Be Ovechkin. 2) Don't charge from 3,000 feet away. 3) Cross check from behind, not hit in the chest from the front. Seabrook could've played the puck, but chose not to and got hammered. 2 games, fine with that. 8 games? Your out of your mind. russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted March 18, 2010 Just last week they ruled they needed to "stay consistent" with this season because they screwed the pooch by not suspending Richards, thus Cooke was unsuspendable... Then there were TONS of similar hits the next week and they decided to expedite the new rules... Very inconsitent NHL...but I like that you are starting to actually do something...but still Cooke wasn't suspended the week before, and Wiz gets 8 games?!?!?!? Hopefully these new rulings are where they consistently rule now...but with Terry Gregson as the chief official of the refs, and Colin Campbell in charge...the officiating circus is in full bloom. Then to have them change their minds the next week... If they had their heads on straight the Cooke hit would have been a 2 gamer as well... If they really had their heads on the Richards hit on Booth would have been a suspension earlier as well. The bad non-suspensions are their own fault. Their decision not to expedite it last week is their own fault. And their decision to now put that forward this week is a joke after what they said last week, proving they don't know what the hell they are doing. Of the Ovechkin, Wisniewski, etc. hits from this past week its a product of their decision not to suspend Cooke. For me the outrage is not that Wiz got suspended...its that they should have done this a week ago. Hey at least they are somewhat admitting they screwed up? Right? Of course, if Wiz played on the Pens, this thread would be entitled, "No suspension for Wisniewski". I'm 100% certain of that. I don't know that that is true... I don't want to publicly turn this into an "are the Penguins treated with bias" thread (though I would be lying if I said I never thought it). My outrage is 100% not that Cooke was a Penguin and didn't get suspended. Its that Cooke is an NHL player that didn't get suspended, and that the next week countless similar plays got suspended... I think some of these hits would have been toned down or avoided had they intervened on Cooke, and its another case of the NHL screwing the pooch with officiating, and it hurting the players...
