3/19 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Oilers 3 (SO)

Devils are pretty much in the playoffs, they are not desperate for every single point.

Wings on the other hand had 2 of the easiest points on the schedule and they lamed them away, they got 1 charity point.

Wings need every point they can get and losing to the last place team when ur in that position is laughable and says a lot about the team and "how bad they want it."

Look at Calgary taking care of business against way better competition.

Anything else you want me to put you in your place about???

if devils didnt care about the points or winning they wouldnt have used broduer. dont tell me theyre not gonna try their hardest to win each and every game like all the other team in the league. wings should have capitalized yeah but they didnt. s*** happens. it wasnt the goalie who won the game for them it was the wings failing to capitalize. they carried the game after the first. wings arent the team they use to be. props to calgary but the sharks have been dropping games lately 5 in a row now...so i wouldnt call them better competition when their obv struggling.

who combines shoootut% and penlaty shot %?

no one, except delusional fans of borderline 2nd line forwards.

Agreed. That statement becomes more obvious each game. He's nothing more than a defensively solid third line center that can't score goals to save his life.

I think bert plays like he weighs 350 pounds, the guy is unbelievably slow out there. Though, flip, hank and cleary aren't what you would call impressive either,

I don't know WTF has happend to Cleary. I don't know if he's got some personal issues going on with him or what but he's definitely not the same player out there right now, and that's very worrisome.

So very strange that the one team the Wings can't beat just so happens to be the worst team in the NHL. No surprise that they lost in the shootout though; Jimmy is no good at it and even though the Wings have two good shooters, Pavel and Willy never score in the same game.

I'm sure starting Dubnyk was a calculated move by Quinn though, he knows terrible no-name goalies always go Vezina-mode on the Wings.

Even though they managed to squeak a miracle point out of this one, it was a pretty lousy game. They'll have to do a lot better against the Canucks.

Again, shootouts and penalty shots are the exact same scenario. you're just even more pissy than normal that Flip has better statistics in this regard than you thought.

cool, let me go check that stat for the rest of the wings team real quick

...oh wait, no one tracks that stat because no one combines them.

welcome to the real world. hope that helps.

Okay, so where is the logic in not combining them? Why can't they be combined?

Are they not the same thing?

I'm happy with 3 points in the Alberta games.

Typical game from a team already out of the playoffs like Edmonton. They can't win when it counts, only when there's no chance. The Leafs are winning now too.

Yea nice going there 29th and 30th overall teams.

LOL indeed, Wings gotta be the best team in the league at shooting themselves in the foot.

At least this L loosens their butt holes for the pulverizing they will receive Saturday night.

I'm just telling you why Babcock picked Filppula. After Datsyuk, Williams and MAYBE Bertuzzi (though when was the last time he scored a goal), Filppula is the best option. Is he 1 for 5 in shootouts? Fine, but it's hardly the entire picture. Miller is 100% in shootouts. Maybe he should go first every time?

I don't think it really matters who he puts in that third spot, the options aren't very good. Pavel and Willy are both shootout aces but they always seem to alternate shootouts that they actually score in, so after Jimmy lets a couple in and the third shooter is stopped it's over. Bert was good for a while when he was hot, but as soon as everyone (including Willy) got healthy he went back to being ice cold.

I'm fine with the pick, couldn't be any worse than Hank or Bert in lazy and sucks mode, although I would like to see Franzen get a go at it.

Well, that brings the Wing's record to 2-4 in games that I've gone to.

I miss Zetterberg's domination. What the heck happened to this guy over the past year?

It was a fairly exciting finish though. My voice is gone from that.

No more Freakin' excuses....you have to beat the worst teams in the League. The effort in the third needs to be the effort in the first as well. This is so repetative. I feel like they are making all of us broken records. get it done boys...winning teams don't make excuses!
